Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
In response to an invitation of the City Commission relative to the request of
the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce for an increase in the appropriation from the
City for fiscal year 1949-1950, Mr Edward Higglns, Manager of the Chamber of Commerce,
next appeared and outlined the Chamber's proposed budget of revenues and expenditures, and
activities for the next fiscal year, submitted samples of circulars, maps, literature
and other advertising data that will be furnished in connection therewith, and requested
that the City's appropration be increased to $5,600.00, the sum appropriated pri~to
19~8-1949.
Thereupon after considerable discussion, Commissioner Krider moved that the appro-
priation for the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce be increased to $5,600.00 in the
1949-1950 budget.
Seconded by Commissioner Stemper and carried by the following vote of the Commission:

A delegation from the Seminole
Housholder as spokesman, next appeared in response to an invitation from the City Commission
relative to their request for an appropriation of $1,200.00 from the City for the next
fiscal year. Mr Housholder submitted a copy of their proposed budget of revenues and
expenditures, and gave a brief resume of the proposed activities for the ensuing year.
Thereupon after careful consideration, Commissioner Krider moved that the City set
up an appropriation of $1,200.O0 for the Seminole County Junior Chamber of Commerce,
but that the funds be disbursed therefrom on the basis of $900.00 appropriation until they
raise their membership to 100 members at $8.00 each, at such time the appropriation will
be increased to the full amount of $1,2OO.O0.
Seconded by Commissioner Dyson and carried.
Captain Hudson of the Salvation Army next appeared and submitted a copy of their
budget, relative to the request that the appropriation for the Salvation Army be increased
to $300.00 for the next fiscal year; stating that while public contributions has decreased
considerably during the past year, there has been a considerable increase in the number of
indigent transients, and that the amount requested from the City was badly needed.
Thereupon after considerable discussion, Commissioner Dyson moved that the appropri-
ation for the Salvation Army remain at $200.00 in the 1949-1950 budget.
Seconded by Commissioner Chase and carried.

The.Co~mission then-proceeded %0 a further study of the budget of revenues and ex-
penditures for the fiscal year 1949-1950.
Thereupon Commissioner Krlder moved that the appropriation in amount of $600.00
for the Seminnle County Health Unit be eliminated, and that the funds be added to the
appropriation for the Fernald-Laughton Memorial Hospital.
Seconded by Commissioner Chase and carried.
Commissioner Krider next moved that the appropriation in amount of $1,968.O0 for
salary of clerlcal assistant in the Water Department be eliminated from the budget.
Seconded by Commissioner Chase and carried.
After further study of the budget and the amount of revenues to be raised by
taxation, Commissioner Krider moved that the tax levy for year 1949 be placed at 21.0000
mills, to be allocated as follows:
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL GOVERNMENT 11.5000 Mills
DEPARTMENT OF DEBT SERVICE 9.5000 Mills
Seconded by Commissioner Stemper and carried.
On motion duly carried, the proposed budget of revenues and expenditures for fiscal
year 1949-19~O was then approved for final adoption.
Consideration was next given to the recent infestation of mosquitoes throughout the
City.
Thereupon Commissioner Dyson moved that an expenditure in amount of $300.00 be
authorized to employ Southern Chemical Company to fog the entire City for the purpose
of eliminating the mosquitos.
Seconded by Commissioner Btemper and carried.
