070846-Regular Session MINUTES City COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, Jul~ ~ ~t 7:_~0 P M 317 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P M July 8, 1946. Present: Commissioner H.James Gut, Mayor. Geo. D. Blshop W C Hill # Lea R. Lesher " Robert A Williams City Attorney Fred R. Wilson City Manager & Clerk H N Sayer. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Current invoices and payrolls for month of June 1~6, propery audited and vouchered as evidenced by Voucher Nos. 91~1 thru 92~8, submitted, examined, approved and payment authoriz ed. Monthly reports of Streets, Sanitation, Health , Water, Police, Fire and Library Depart~- ments for month of June 1~6 submitted and examined. Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures durin~ monthcf June 1~5, submitted and examined. Bank statements in all accounts for month of June property reconciled submitted and exam in ed. On recommendation of Water Plant Engineer Abrahams, and on motloncf Commissioner Hill, seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried, the Commission next authorized the purchase from A A Cordrey,Tampa, Florida, of two Bode Industrial Oil Filters at price of $125.00 each, to be installed on the two diesel engines at the Water Plant. The City Manager next reported that a bur~lar broke ~nto the Library on night of July 4, and stole all the cash on hand, which amounted to approximately $3~.OO. The City Manager next reported that the City still has in its possession the fire flghtin~ unit mounted on trailer that was loanedit by the Federal Government under the Civil- lan Defense Program during the war; that this unit has been declared surplus to the War Assets Corporation; and that the Town of Lake Mary desires to purchase this equipment and has requested the City to submit a bid for them in amount of $300.00. Thereupon Commissioner Hill moved that the City ~anager be authorized to submit a bid thru the City for purchase of the aforesaid fire fighting equipment from the War Assets Corporation at a price of $300.00, to be transferred to the Town of Lake Mary. Seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried. The City Manager next reported that Patrick Fruit Company had cons tructed a loadl~ platform across the alley in back of their citrus packing plant at 1200 French Avenue and that objections had been registered by the other proper.ty owners in this block a~alnst closln~ this alley. Thereupon after being advlsed that this alley was closed without a permlt from the City, the Commission ordered this obstruction to be removed immediately. Communication next read from Mr. W.A. LeI'fler recommendln~ that the police department organize and sponsor a #Sanford Safety Drivers' League~ and provide rules and regulations for its members, whereby, stickers will be furnished to be placed on their automobiles, and be removed for violation of any traffic ordinances due to carelessness of the driver.
