CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD. FLORIDA. Regular ~eeting of Dec. 14, 1925
Present: Commissioners:

Nitrites of regular meeting of November 22nd.
December 9th. read and approved.
Forrest Lake (Nayor) S O Chase and C J Narshall.

~nd a special meeting of December 2nd and
Nr S R Dight~representing the Lions Club came before the Commission requesting that the
Commission appropriate $1,200.00 as salary for a Playground Director for the Children's
Playground, and on mmtion duly seconded and passed, same was approved, to begin January 1st
1926. $~me to be paid from contingent fund.
On motion duly adopted the Clerk was instructed to pay to the Sanford Yacht Club
$500.00 toward expenses of Regatta to be held J~uuary 23rd, 1926.
Commissioner $ 0 Chase introduced Ordinance ~lO? entitled:
"An Ordinance providing for the vacating and closing of Orange Street in the City of Sanford
Florida, from west line of Elm Ave. to the East line of French Ave."
and moved that eame be adopted.
Thereupon s~d ordinance was read in f~ull. Thereupon Commissioner S O Chase moved that
the rules be waived and said ordinance be placed upon its second reading and final passage,
which motion was duly seconded.
The question was then put upon a waih~r of the rules and the roll was called upon a
waiver of the rules, Those voting in favor of the waiver of the rules were: Commissioners
Forrest Lake, S 0 Chase, and C J ~rshall.
Thereupon the question recurred upon the motion to place said ordinance upon its second
reading and final passage, which motion prevailed by the unanimous vote of the City Commission.
Thereupon said ordinance was placed upon its second reading and read in full.
Upon the reading of said ordinance the roll was called upon the question of the adopt-
ion of same. Those voting in favor of the adoption of said ordinance were: Commissioners
Forrest Lake, S 0 Chase and C J Narshall. Those voting against the passage and adoption of
of said Ordinance were: None.
Thereupon the Chairman of the City Commission of the City of S~nford, Florida announced
that the City Commission had unanimously passed and adopted that certain ordaince ~lO? entitled:
"An Ordinance providing for the vacating and closing of Orange Street in the City of Sanford
Florida, from the west line of Elm Avenue to the east line of French Ave."
Rev. ~ortimer Glover came before the Commission requesting that the Y N C A be
allowed to occupy the old City Hall building tempore~lly as Boom as same shall have been va-
cated by the City. On motion same was granted. N~ Glover further requested that the White
Way around the Holy Cross Church be comuected with the City lighting system, and on motion
duly adopted, the City ~auager was authorized to have s~me arranged for.
Nr. Upmeyer of Naitland Florida and Nr W C Hill requested the assistance of the City
Commission in procuring a landin~ place for barges. The Co~isslon approved the plan and referred
the matter to the City Nanager and City Engineer for investigation.
Petition from property owners in Fort Nellon Subdivision requesting establishing
of building line thirty five feet from sidewalk on Elliott St in said subdivision. On motion
dul~ adopted same was so ordered.

Petition from John Bolly et al requesting that street extending from west First St.
north to Lake Monroe abutting Lots lb - 15 - 20 and 21 Celery Plantations be named Riverview
Ave was read and on motion duly adopted.
Petition from Bodwell Realty Co. Re: the paving of streets in Second Section of Dream-
wold, and on motion duly adopted the Engineer was instructed to proceed with preliminary
work on s~e.
Petition from property owners Re: paving Bay Ave. from Union Ave. to Seventh St. was
read and on motion duly adopted, and the City Engine~ was authorized to proceed with this
work.
Communication from the Chamber of Co~zaerce Re: contracting with the Rollins College
Broadcasting Station for one Sanford Night for fifty two weeks at a cost to the City of $2,500.00
was read and the City Manager was authorized to execute contract on the part of the City.
On motion duly passed the Hutton Construction Co. was authorized to put top soil on
the grounds of Hotel Forrest Lake.
Mr. Jos. E Craig submitted an estimate of cost of needed improvements and extensions to
Gas Plant in the sum of about $75,000.00. On motion duly adopted the matter was referred to
CoMmissioner S 0 Chase with power to act.
~I'~ Jos E Craig submitted report as to necessity of additional pumping machinery at
Lake Ada, and the putting down of two o= more 8 inch wells to increase water supply, and on
motion duly adopted the City Mmnager was authorized to proceed with this work.
City Engineer submitted plats of Second Section of San Lanta and Magnolia Heights
and same were approved and ordered filed in City Plat Book.
The City Clerk was authorized to cancel
