The Chairman then announced that the Commission would be glad to hear from interested
parties in favor of, or against the proposed rezoning of the propertyd ascribed in the fore-
going notice.
Mervyn 0zier of Ozier-Welle~,Homes, Inc., owner of Block 6 and a portion of Block
13 of Bel Air Subdivision, the t~o blocks under consideration to be rezoned, then spoke in
favor of the proposed rezoning. He pointed out that due to the property bordering on City
limits and abutting a dairy, that it is not very desirable for residential PUrposes, except
for small homes in the low cost bracket, and that t hey would not be able to sell the larger
dwellings required under the existing restrictions because of the cost price.
Robert F. May, of 2405 Key Avenue in Wynnewood Subdivision, next voiced his objections
against rezoning Block 13, which is located within 300 feet of his residence. He advised that
he had purchased his home at a cost of $11,000.00 with the understanding that the neighborhood
would be protected under the existing zoning restrictions from the construction of undesirable
dwellings in that area, and t he lowering of such restrictions would reduce the value of hie
property.
After further discussion and in view of other protest having been registered with the
Commissioners from property owners across the street from Block 13, Commissioner Cordell moved
that Block 6 of Bel Air Subdivision be rezoned to District R-i-X, as recommended by the Zoning
Board, and that Block 13 be left in District R-1. S~

City Comm ss on Sonford Flor aa ......................................
J. N. Blythe next appeared with reference to the six months notice received from City
on termination of his lease on City owned oroperty at northeast corner of French Avenue and 14th
Street, unless retail sale of gasoline and/or diesel fuel from said premises is discontinued.
He advised that he was not retailing gasoline and diesel fuel and was only loading his own trucks
consisting of fleet of 49, and trucks under lease to him, and submitted his records as evidence. ~
Mr. Blythe stated that his truck transport business consisted of hauling perishables with all
trucks subject to being loaded out at all hours, and since the service stations in that vicinity
closed at night, it was very necessary for him to carry his own fuel because they could not wait
with loads of perishables until the service stations open. He then invited the Commission or
any of the City officials to come out and inspect his records at any time and also watch the
activities on the premises.
Thereupon after discussion Commissioner Btemper moved that the notice of May 11, 1954,
terminating the lease of Mr. Blythe, be withdrawn. Beconded by Commissioner Cordell and carried.
Pursuant to the recommendations of the Zoning and Planning Commission that the
softball diamond be moved to Fort Mellon Park, the City N~nager next submitted cost estimate
of $520.00 for moving the lights and $100.00 for constructing a new diamond in the park.
After consideration Commissioner Kadet moved that the City Manager be authorized
to erect a new softball diamond in Fort Mellon Park~ with a view to moving the lights at
such time funds are available to defray the cost. Seconded by Commissioner Cordell and carried.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
