The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Called ~eesion
at the City Hall in the City of Sanfo~, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. September 8, 1955.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
The Commission then proceeded to a further study of the proposed budget of revenues
and expenditures for fiscal year 1955-1956, and after completing the study and consideration
of all appropriations and making adjustments, the grand total of general operating expendi-
tures, including proposed capital improvememts and a streets improvement program, was approxi-
mately $50,000.00 in excess of the total anticipated revenues.
Consideration was then given to.ye and means of raising additional revenue to balance
this deficit, and after considerable discussion, itwas felt that it would be for the best in-
terest of the City to impose a fee for the collection of refuse (garbage and trash), instead
of increasing the ad valorem tax millage for operating expenses.
The City Manager was then directed to prepare and submit a schedule of rates for
oroposed refuse collection fees, which would produce approximately $50,000.00 annually, for
further consideration of tha Commission.
Consideration next given to eliminating all loading zones and p~king spaces for
priviledged individuals and organizations, or to charge a rental for use of same, and after
considerable discussion, action was deferred until next regular meeting.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
