Reading of minutes dispensed with.
the City of Sanford, Florida met in regular session at the City
1928.
Upon motion duly adopted, it was ordered that all prisoners servir~ sentences in the City
Jail be released on Christmas Eve.
Upon motion duly adopted, the Chief of Police was authorized to have all mattresses in
the City Jail reconditioned, and to buy such additional blankets as may be necessary.
Chief of Police reported the suspension of Detective J B Green, and said suspension
was approved by the Commission. Detective Green to be paid up to and including December 31st.
1928.
Chief of Police Williams was authorized to employ R L Kennedy as Patrolman, to employ an
additional patrolman for the winter season, and to employ three plain-cloths men for special
duty around the churches in Sanford on Sunday evenings for the protection of automobiles.
On motion duly adopted, it was ordered that the City relinquish any claim that it may have
with respect to the Hudson Brougham' whihh was purchased for the use of the Chief of Police
Williams in the Spring of 1927 but for which the final payments were not made , Chief of
Police Williams having completed the payments, amounting to $562.18 himself, he also having
an additional equity in the automobile due to his applying a privately owned automobile as
part payment of the police car used as initial payment on this one.
A Committee of members of the Congregational Church of Sanford appeared before the
Co~lission and presented a petition protesting ag~inst the issuance of a building permit
for the erection of a gasoline filling station on the southeast coerner of Third St. and
Park Ave. directly across the Street from the Congregational Church
Ma~ter taken under advisement and the City Manager instructed not to issue building per-
mit until notified to do so by the Commission.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned, to meet again at 2 O'Clock P ~
December 26, 1928.
