The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at ?:30 o'clock P.M. Seotember 8,1941. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of regular meeting of August llth, adjourned meeting of August 22, and orooerly submitted, e~amined., library, recreation deoartments for the month of August 1941, submitted and examined . Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures during the month of August,1941, submitted, and examined. Bank statements in all accounts for the month of August,1941, nrooerly reconciled, submitted and examined. A committee consisting of members of the Seminole County Defense Council and several business men, who are oroperty owM~ , next aooeared before the Board and requested th~.t consideration be given to including in the 1941-1942 budget the ourchase of additional aooaratus for the Fire Denartment so that it wil~ be adequately equlooed for all emergencies. Thereuoon after considerable discussion as to the tyne of additional equipment needed for the Fire Deoartment, the Commission advised this Co~mittee that funds will be sooro- priated in the 1941-1942 budget for this ourooee. Apolication next received from Pentland, Gray & Moore, Accountants and Auditors, for the regular annual audit of the City's books covering the fiscal year ending Seotember 30, 1941, the agreement being that the total cost of the audit will not exceed $650.00, and if any saving in time can be effected, the City will receive the benefit of such saving. Thereuoon Comml'ssioner Higgins moved that Pentland, Gray & Moore be awarded the amnual Audit of the City's books for the fiscal year ending Seotember 30,1941, in accordance with the terms of their aoolication. Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried. Aoolication next received from the Primitive Bsotist Church for oermlt.to con- struct a church building of frame structure from second-hand materials on Lot Boykin~s Subdivision, located on West Fifteenth Street. Aoolication referred to City Attorney for advice as to the Btate's requirements in the construction of oublic buildings. On motion of Commissioner Ro~lins, seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried, the Clerk wes next authorized to ooen the Municioal Registration Books on Seotember !5,1~41, for the Municioal Primary Election to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November,1941, in accordance with the terms of the Charter. The following aoolications were next received for oermit to sell beer and wines: Lizzie Davis at W. llth St, & Railroad; Inez Flowers at 514 Ssnford Ave, and Charlie Sheffield Jr, at 309 S~nford Ave. Thereuoon on motion duly adooted the Tax Collector was authorized to issue licenses to the aforesaid aoolicants to 4fi MINUTES September ~ 7:~0 ?
