040742 MINUTES CiTY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, __19 141 at The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 4:30 o'clock P.M. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. session 7,1942. Request next received from Leonard HcLucas, Athletics Director of the Seminole High School that the High School baseball team be allowed permission to use the Munici- pal Athletlc Field for training purposes and also for olaylng a sertes of games dur- ing the coming season. Thereupon after considerable discu~ssion, and on motion duly adopted, the Commission granted the Seminole High School baseball team permission to use the Municloal Athletic Field during the coming season, provided the Seminole County Board of Public Instruction will assume full responsibility for any property damages, and will guarantee to replace any damages that may occur to the property wh~le it is being used by the school team. On motion duly carried, the Commission neyt au~horized the sale to Walter M. Haynes of Lot 6~.and N 1/2 of Lot 7 Block 5 Tier 3, E.R.Trafford's ~'~ao of Sanford, at a price of $800.00 with all City, County and State taxes thereon paid to January l, 19h2, this orooerty having been acquired by the City thru foreclosure of tax liens. The sale of the aforesald property having been negotiated by Cotclough R~a~ty ~omoany , the Commission next authorized payment to them of a sales Commission in amount of $$O.OO , which reores,nts the customary realtors commission of 5% of the gross sale. The Clerk ne×t reported that there are two outstanding old State & County certificates against the aforesaid property that were ourchased by Frank L.Woodruff, as follows: Certificate No.!S9, sale of 7/4/27, in amount of $104.38' ourch~sed by Mr. Woodruff at s discount of 75% under date of June 17,1931, including the subsequent years ts×es for years 1927 thru 1930, of which the total cost to ~"Ar. Woodruff amounted to $ 32.85; Tax Certificate No. 3~O, sale of 8/1/32 in emount of $~5.19. Thereupon after considerable discussion, and on advlce of C~ty Attorney Wilson that the aforesaid tax certificates are still v,]id, the Clark wss ~uthorized to offer Mr. Woodruff the amount he paid for the certificates and interes~ thereon, for redemption of same. Thereunon after careful consideration, and in view of the benefits that w~ll accrue to several of ~he citizens of Sanford by availing themselves of the tunt~les offered thru the Defense Train%ng School, Commissioner Htgglns moved tb~t the City lease the above described machinery ~nd equipment from W.S.Price at a rental of $50.~O oar month, with ootlon to purchase it under the foregoing terms offered by Mr. Price. Reauest next received from J.M.Lee for an adjustment ofthe assessed valuation in amount of $730.OO for years 1935 thru 19J1 against Lot 1}l, Oakhill, claiming that the assessment is too high because the property is in a very bad state of repair. ThereupOn after careful comparison of the assessed valua-tion of this orooerSy with elmi!ar orooertles simi!erly located, Commissioner Gut moved that the a~sessed valuation be adjusted to $600.00 for years 1935 thru !941. Seconded by Commissioner HlgMins and carried. Bill of Title Guaranty & Abstract Company ~n amount of $14.OO for abstract furnished the City on the property purchased from Cooledge Realty & Trust Company under date of March 1,19~1, next presented, and on motion duly carried, same was approved and payment ordered.
