Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned at 4:30 o'clock P M May 1,1942. Request next received from Allan Stewart , Manager of the Municipal Golf Course for a leave of absence from May 13th. thru Seotember 15,19h2, advising that he had arranged for Raymond Lundqu~et to manage the golf course during his absence, orovlded it meets with the Commission granted ~r. Stewart th~s leave of by him to emo!oy Raymond Lundqu!st to manage the aooroval of the City Comm~ssion. Thereuoon on motion duly ~dooted, absence, and enoroved the arranMements made the golf course durlng his absence. In conneation with the State Road Deosrtment widening Park Avenue from 24feet in wldth to 44 feet in width between Tenth Street and Twenty-third Street, the Clerk was next instructed to notify all utility comoanles that they will have to remove their maths and service lines from sai~ street right-of-way and re-locate them in the alley between Park Avenue an8 Oak Avenue. Pursuant to a recent Act of Congress aooroorlatln~ funds for the construction s~d operation of a Naval Air Base on Sanford's Airoort, the ~hairman next eSvised the Commission that the United States Navy has requested a letter from the City grantlng the Navy authority to enter u'oon the airoort orooerty and start construction of the base, 0end~ng the conveyance of said orooerty to the United States Government. Thereuoon, on motion duly carried, the Mayor and Cler~ were authorized to execute a letter a~reement, authorizing the United States Navy the use of the Sanford Alroort a~ a Naval Air Base. In connection with establishing the Naval Air Base on the Alroort, and in vlew of the number of workers t~t will be emoloyed durln~ its construction, consideration was next given to the matter of designating a site to station the emoloyees that will live in trailers and tents. The Clerk t~en ~nformed the Commission that the orooerty located at northeast corner of Ssnford Avenue and 26th. Place, 5escrlbed as Block 6, A.B.Russell's Add~tion to Fort Reed,and Block 15, A B Russell's Addition to Fort Reed located at southeast corner of Sanford Ave. and P6th. Place, would be a suitable locatlon for the trailer camo, advising that the City holds State & County Toy Certlflcate No. 1976, Sale of a~ainst Block 6, and that tax deed can be secured on same at a cost of $~P.2P, also that Block 15 can be ourchased from the Trustees of Internal Imorovement Fund of the State of Florida at a cost of $!52.~. Thereuoon after further consideration, Commissioner Hl~'glns moved that the Clerk be authorized to aooly for s State & County Tax Deed on Block 6 A.B.~tusse!l's ~,~ t~ F~t R~ed ~t s cost of $42.22 also, ~ake aoo!tc~ton to the Trustees MINUTES 151 acquisition of same by the City. Seconded by Commlssioner Gut and carried.
