070642 MINUTES CiTY COMMI~;SION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, July 6, 7:30 P M 19 42 177 The City Commission of the City of Dsnford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hail in the City of Canford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. July 6, 1942, to received the tax aseessment roll for the year !942 as oreoared by the City Tax Assessor, and sit as a Tax Equalization Board. Present: Comraissioner W C.Hlll, Mayor. " Geo. The Commission then oroceeded to sit as a Tax Equalization Board to receive any comolalnts or objections filed with the City Clerk as to aseessed valuations on the 1942 tax roll as oreoared by the City Tax Assessor and oresented at this time. Aoolication next received from Gene G. Baber for oermit to ooerste a pool room and beer garden at $06-8 Sanford Ave. At this time Mr. Forrest Gatchell aooeared before the Board and voiced his ob- Jections against the City granting Mr. B~ber ~ oermlt to ooerate a cool room and beer garden at the aforesaid locstlon, which is next door to his grocery store, stat- ing that Mr. B~ber's business will be conducted for colored oeoole only, whic~ will be obJectlonsble to his custom,rs, and he feels that this tyoe of business at this loc~tion would not only d~mage nls grocery business but would also decrease the v~lue of his store orooerty. Reques~ next received from the Seminole County Defense Council for a donation in amount of $199.OO toward defraylng the accrued e~oenses of t~e celebration held in Sanford on J~ly $,1952, which included a free fish-fry for the oubllc. Thereuoon Commissioner Gut moved that the City contribute $80.00 and that each Commissioner donate his salary in amount of $$.O0 for attending this meeting toward defraying the e×oen~es of the July 4th. celebration. Seconded by Commissioner Bishoo and carried. The Clerk next oresented, bill of Eureka Fire H~e Comoany in amount of $1020.OO covering ourchsseof 1,COO feet of 2~" Multex Multiole Woven Fire Hose authorized at the meeting of J~nuary 26,1952. Thereuoon Commissioner Gut move~ that the invoice be ~rov~d and recorded for oayment on June 25, !9~3, with interest at rate of 6% oer annum, in accordance with the terms of the ourchase contract. Seconded by Commissioner Blshoo and carried. ~oolicatlon next received from ~'rs. Georgia Cowart to vurchase Lots 17 and 19 Block A,~Celery Avenue Add~tlon, this orooerty having ~een ou~-chased by the City thru foreclosure sale of State & County t~x liens. Thereuoon after careful consi~eratton, and on motion duly adooted, the Commission auti~orized the sele of the sforesai5 orooerty at s orlce of ~100.~O for Lot 17 and 150.OO for Lot 19, which is a corner lot. On motion duly adooted the Clerk was ne~t authorized to insure against fire loss in amount of $1,5OO.00 thru the S~nford Insurers Exchange, the City's warehouse orooerty located.on Lot 8 and W 1/2 of Lot 9 Block 2 Tier ll E R Trafford's Mac of Sanford.
