Ordinance NO. 327 entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA GRANTING TO SANFORD EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INCORPORATED, A CORPORATION ORGANIZED AND EXISTING UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, THE AUTHORITY,RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE FOR A PERIOD OF TEN YEARS TO ESTABLISH, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A BUS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, FOR THE TRANSPORTATION FOR COMPENSATION OF PASSENGERS AND FIXING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH GRANT. INTROS~UCED end placed on its first readlng at the regular meeting of the City Commission of October 12,19~2, was next placed on its final reading and read in full by the Olerk. Thereupon the roll was called on the passage and adoption of said Ordinance No. 327, the vote being as follows: Commissioner Hill Aye " Bishop Aye " Gut Aye " Hlggine Aye " Lodge Aye Thereupon the Chairman announced thet the City Commission of the City of Senford, Florida, by unanimous vote, had passed end adopted said Ordinance No. 327, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, GRANTING TO SANFORD EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INCORPORATED, A CORPORATION ORGANIZED AND EXISTING UNDER THE LAW8 OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, THE AUTHORITY, RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE FOR A PERIOD OF TEN YEARS TO ESTABLISH, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE A BUS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, FOR THE TRANSPORTATION FOR COMPENSATION OF PASSENGERS AND FIXING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH GRANT. On motion of Commissioner Lodge, seconded by Commissioner Bishop end carried, Ordinance No.327 was next ordered POSTED at the front door of the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, in accordance with the terms of the Charter, as amended. Mrs Fred Robb next su0mitted en offer of $500.00 for the purchase of Lot 6 Block Tier 1 , E R Traf~ord's Map, subject to City taxes for year 19~2 and all unpaid State and County taxes, this property having Oeen acquired by the City thru foreclosure of tax end special assessment liens. Offer taken under consideration. Commissioner Higgins next introduced Ordinance No. 328, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, REQOIRING EVERY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION DESIRING TO ENGAGE IN THE BUSINESS OF TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS FOR COMPEN- SATION IN MOTOR VEHICLES OF THE CAPACITY HEREIN DESCRIBED, OR WHAT IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE"TAXI-CAB BUSINESS" IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, TO OBTAIN A PE.W~!T $O TO DO FROM THE CITY COMMISSION OF SAID CITY; REQUIRING SUCH PERSONS, FIRMS OR CORPORATIONS NOT PROTECTED BY PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE TO SO INDICATE IN SAID MOTOR VEHICLES AS HEREIN PROVIDED; MAKING CERTAIN REGULATIONS FOR SAID BUSINESS; PRESCRIBING MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM RATES TO BE CHAR~D BY SUCH PERSONS,FIRMS OR CORPORATIONS ~NGAGED IN SUCH BUSINESS AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE. and same wes placed on its first reading and read in full by the 01erk. Application next received from Ire E.Southward for the in view of no other bids having been received, Commissioner Higgins moved Company in amount of $120.OO , be City to remove an oak tree MINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SANFORD, FLORIDA, October 26 st 7: o 19 243 Communication next read from Mrs J.E.Williams, Canal Point, Florida, requesting that she be granted until June 1943, in which to repair , or demolish and remove the partly burned dwelling house located on Lot 10, Block 1~ Tier 5, E R Trsfford's Map, which was condemned by Resolution No. 63?, passed end adopted by the City Commission at the meeting of Octooer 12, 1942, stating that her husband is engaged in the farming industry and will not be able to devote any of his time toward having this work done until after next spring. Thereupon after consiaersble discussion, granted Mrs Williams until January 1,1943, in the aforesaid condemned building, provided she will immediately clean up the premises and have the building boarded up so aa to keep out trespassers. Request next received from Mrs Joe Emeriok for s reduction in the 19~2 Personal taxes in amount of $81.OO assessed against the Emerick Hardware Company, because it ceased to operate as a business after August 19~2. Thereupon after careful consideration, and in view of the fact that all properties are assessed for taxes as oi' January 1st, Emerick Hardware Company did not exceed line with the assessed valuations placed and on motion duly adopted, the Commission which to repair or :~emollsh end remove~ the ~oard that The Clerk next reported that because of the present labor shortage the not been sole to employ sufficient labor to maintain the eighteen hole golf will be forced to discontinue maintenance of the back nine holes. Thereupon in order to curtail the main~nance of the golf course, the Commission ordered the beck nine holes closed temporarily. On motion duly adopted, the Commission next authorized the purchase of two tons of milorgsnite fertilizer for the golf course from Chase & Company at a price of $3?.00 per ton. The Clerk next reported that J.M.Stinecipher , original owner of Lot 3 Block A, Strin~fellow's Addition , hsd recently removed all plumbing fixtures from the dwelling house located thereon without the consent of the City, whereas, the City acquired title and possession of the property on August 3,19~2, thru foreclosure of taxes and special assessment liens. Thereupon the City Attorney was directed to notify ~r Stinecipher to immedi~tely replace all such pluOmlng fixtures removed by him from the aforesaid property, otherwise the City will be forced to take such legal action necessary to protect its interest. The Clerk next informed t~e Commission that a number of the dwelling houses acquired oy the ~ity thru foreclosure o5 taxes and/or special assessment liens are in immediate need of minor repairs, advising that it will be necessary to employ someone extra to make suc~ repairs because the City's regular employed carpenter is Ousy doing various kinds o5 work since Supt. Moughton has not had available laoor. Thereupon on motion duly carried, the Clerk wes authorized to employ someone to make they could not ~e justified in making a reduction in the aforesaid taxes.
