122842-Regular Session MINUTES CitY COMMISSION, SANF~ORD, FLORIDA, December 2~ at 7:~0 ?. ~9 42 267 The City Commission of the City of Oanford, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. December 28,1942. Present: Commissioner W.C.Hill, Mayor. " Geo. D.Bishop " H.James Gut " Edward Higgins " M.J. Lodge. City Attorr~y Fred R.Wilson City Clerk H.N.Ssyer. Chief of Police, R.G.Witliams Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Minutes of adjourned meeting of October 19th., regular meeting of October 26th., and special meeting of November 4th, 1942, next read in full. Commissioner Bishop next introduced Resolution No. 641, and after being read in full by the Clerk, moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Hlggins and carried by the following vote of the Commis~ on: Commissioner Hill Aye " Bishop Aye " Gut Aye " Higgins Aye " Lodge Aye Said Resolution No. 6~1 being in words and figures es follows: RESOLUTION NO. 641. WHEREAS, it has come to our attention that the amounts allowed former owners of land in the $anford Naval Base are in many cases unfair, unjust and inadequate , and, WHEREAS, we do not believe that it is the intention of the United States Government or the Navy Department to deprive any of its citizens of their homes without allowing sufficient compensation therefor to provide other housing facilities, and, WHEREAS, if the amounts allowed are accepted by the many cases mean that these people will soon become puOlic inability to pay house rent and purchase the necessities of former owners it will wards because of their life, and, in WHEREAS, it appears that no serious considerstion wes given to the fact that these people in addition to the homes in which they lived also had gerdens,po~L][try farms, and fruit trees, ail of which contributed to their support, and, WHEREAS , it further seems evident that the appraisers were not familiar with the value of tiled, improved, irrigated farm lands which have as e general rule a value of $10OO.00 per acre, and WHEREAS, the City comprising said Naval Base and acquired options on aa~itional lands to be said Air Base and are now s part thereof and the City Commission of ~aid of Sanford acquired approximately 881 acres of the 1~90 acres included in City is generally familiar with the values of lands prior to their Oeing taken over WHEREAS, we have been shown an land in said Air Base and the conditio~ of the by the Government, and analysis of some of these cases, a copy of which ia hereto attached, in which the amounts that these people should receive is set out end from our knowledge of the people and the property we believe that this analysis is a fair statement of the amounts which should be paid, NOW THEREFORE, we hereby request that this analysis be given favorable consider- MINUTES C~lvV C~OMMISSlON, SANFORD, FLORIDA~ Dec. 25 et · 7:30 P M ,19 CITY OF By SANFORD , FLORIDA W C Hill Mayor. Seconded Dy Commissioner Bishop end carried. Commissioner Higgins next introduced Ordinance No. 33l, entitled: ORDINANCE NO. 331. FLORIDA. AMENDING SECTIONS 1 AND 2.
