FiORiDA.~J~~ 14 at 1: ]0 P M_I 9 .~_~_ The City Commission of the City dT Sanford, Florida met in adjourned regular ession at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 1:30 o'clock P.M. February 14, 1945. Present: Commissioner Edward Higgins, Mayor " George D.Bishop " H.James Gut " M.J.Lodge City Attorney Fred R.Wilson City Clerk H.N.Bayer Absent: Commissioner W.C.Hill Meeting called to order by the Chairman. The following a~plications next received for permit to sell liquors: Louis Perides for permit to sell liquors, to be consumed on premises, at 1219 W. Thirteenth Bt. A1 Coe for permit to sell liquors in oackages, to be consumed off the oremises, at Southeast corner of Celery Ave. and Cypress Ave. Thereupon after careful consideration, and in view of the fact that Ordinance No. 359, passed and adooted by the City Commission under date of October 16,194~, limits the permits and licenses to vendors of alcoholic beverages, exceot beer and wines, to not in excess of one permit and license to each 15OO persons in the City of Sanford, according to the last census thereof, State or Federal, and that the last census of Sanford show~ a population of 10,~OO, for which there have been granted seven such permits and licenses; Commissioner Gut moved that the aforesaid applications for permits to selI. liquors be declined. Seconded by commissioner Bishop and carried. Consideration next given to the matter of requiring all meat to be inspected and have approval stamped on it by either the City, State or Federal authorities before it is offered for sale in Sanford. Thereupon after considerable discussion, the City Attorney was directed to obtain a copy of the City of Orlando's ordinance governing inspection of meat, for furthe~ consideration of the Commission. Communication next read from Chase & Company requesting that the City replace the sidewalk in front of their property on the north side of Thirteenth Street between French Ave. and Holly Ave. ~hat was broken up by the City in removing several large trees from the parkway for the purpose of widening the pavement on Thirteenth St. The Clerk then advised that A.J.Thomoson, C°ntraotor, had submitted a.price of .30 per sq. ft. for replacing all the sidewalk along Thirteenth Bt.that has been broken up or torn out in connection with.widening and re-paving said street; advising that there is approximately 15OO sq. ft. of sidewalk damaged. Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved that the City employ A.J.Thomoson, Contractor, to repair and replace the broken sidewalk along Thirteenth Street. at a price of .30 per sq.ft. Seconded,bY Commissioner Bishop and carried. Application next received from Joseph M.Vining for posisition as caretaker of the cemeteries, and same was ordered filed. MINUTES February 14 at 1:30 P M CITY COmMiSSION, SANFORD, FlORiDA, . 19 4_~ salary or wages for fifteen days leave of absence from their duties during any one calendar year because of ~ersonal illness, and that any department head having an employee absent for more than 15 days during a calendar year and feels that further consideration should be given, will have to bring the matter before the City Commission, together with a doctor's certificate stating the facts of the case. Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved that the fuels be waived and said Ordinance No. 365 be placed on its final passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Bishop.
