FLORIDA. 19_35 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at ?:30 o'clock P.M. June 8, 1945. Meeting called to order by the Chairman who announced that the puroose of the meet- ing was to confer with the City Planning Committee with further reference to the City acquiring the additional orooerty on the lake front between French Avenue and Man- goustine Avenue for the ouroose of constructing Municipal Docks and Terminal Facilities, the olans and location of the orooosed docks,and also the matter of requesting the State Road Deoartment to re-locate State Road No. ~ between French Ave. and Mangous~ine Ave. in order that the lake front can be utilized for this ouroose. Mayor Higgins then submitted olans of the orooosed docks and terminal facilities, together with two alternate olans, each show~_ng the estimated construction cost, as oreoared by Reynolds, Smith and Hills,Arhhltects and. Engineers of Jacksonville. Plan No. I oroviding for the construction of docks on the lake front adjacent to the bulkhead, Plan No. 2 providing for the construction of docks on filled land extending into the lake with viaduct and aooroach fill to carry the highway over the tracks and access roads serving the docks, and Plan No. 3 oroviding for dredging a dock basin in Mill Creek south of the highway with bascule bridge to carry highway over the creek. Thereupon after considerable discussion, Mr. Corne!l moved that the City Planning Committee recommend to the City Commission that the City enter into negotiations to acquire the necessary land on the lake front between French Ave and Mangoustine Ave. at a orice not to exceed $22,OOO.00, for the ouroose of establishing a municipal $or~ for docks, warehouses and terminal facilities. Seconded by Commissioner Ingley and carried. Mr. !ngley next moved that the City Planning Committee recommend to the City Commis- sion that a request be oresented to the State Road Denartment to locate an alternate route for highway No. 3 between Vrench and Manmoustine Avenues in order that the City can make better use of the water front on Lake Monroe for industrial ourooses.
