TRAFFORD'S MAP OF SANFORD FLORID A BY THE ERECTION O? A PUBLIC COMFORT STATION FOR COLORED PEOPLE THEREON. WHE~AS, by Resolution No. 680 oassed and adopted on the 9th day of October,1944, the City Commissioners of the City of Sanford, Florida requested the Board of County Commissioners to dedicate Lots 13 and l~ of Block ~ ~f Tier I of E.R. Matter taken under consideration, oending further information as to the granting of taxi-cab oermlts by other cities. Mr. Payne of Orlando Transit Comoany next aooeard and requested the City to grant them a larger reserved soace for bus stoos at northwest corner of Park Ave and First Street, and also increase the size 'of the bus etoo at southwest corner of First St. and Park Ave., stating~that the oresent soaces are too small and creates traffic hazards and congestion. Thereuoon after considerable discussion the matter was referred to Chief of Police Williams for recommendations. Commissioner Gut next introduced Ordinance No..~77, entitled: ORDINANCE NO, 377 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITz OF SANWORD FLORIDA REGULATING THE PARKING 0~,' MOTOR VEHICLES ON PARK AVENUE IN SAID CITY, REQUIRING PARALLEL PARKING THEREOF AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROviSIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE. AND SAME WAS READ IN FULL BY THE CLERK. Thereupon Commissioner Gut moved that the rules be waived and said Ordinance No. 377 be olaced on its final oassage and adoption. June 25 at 7:~0 ~PM 19- 5 funds to cities with which to make preliminary en¢Ineer~nE studies and to prepare plans and specifications for needed Post-War projects. We are sure that you realize the im- portance of heine prepared to apply for these funds as quickly as possible. Legislation is now oendlng which will provide money for this purpose and as soon as these funds are available there will be a great rush for oartlcioatlon in this grogram. Those cities which are prepared to get their applications on file as soon as possible will orobably be on the ground floor and their applications will receive early consld- eration. Since the funds for this purpose may be expected to be somewhat limited, early action is of great Importance. Since ~'we are somewhat familiar with~Y~ur proposed Post-War oubl!c works program and would like ~o aid you in becoming prepared to request these funds, we offer to begin at once to compile the necessary preliminary information for requesting these funds. This information will include the scope, anticipated cost, need usefulness, and employment ootentlalltles of the proposed project, We will compile th!.s data and out the clty on'record with the Federal Works a~ency as intending to apply for these ~unds on the following projects: - 1. Order of Nunic~oal Judge Sharon correcting the sentence, Imposed in Case No. 34218 of the Nunlclpal Court on March 12, 1945, sentencing the defendant to pay a fine of $1OO.O0 and costs, or serve 90 days In the City Jail, and to serve 90 days without fine; corrected and. changed to read $1OO.00 and costs or serve 90 8aye in the City ~all, and serve 30 days additional without fine, next presented. Thereupon Commissioner Bishop moved the aoprovel of the order of Mun!c!oal Judge correcting the sentence imposed in Case #34218 of the Munlcioal Court. Seconded by Commissioner Lodge and carried. In connection with the request of Geo.A. Speer Jr. for an adjustment of the assessed valuation for years 1941 thru 1944 against Lot ll B~ock 3 Tier 2, Commissioners Bishop and Gut who were appointed to make an appraisal and comoarleon of the assessed valuation , next recommended that the assessed valuation be adjusted to $?,OOO. OO Thereupon Commissioner Lodge moved the acceptance of the aforesaid recommendations and that the Clerk be authorized to adjust the assessed valuation for years 1941 thru 1944 aga1~nst Lot ll Block 3 Tier 2, to $?,OOO.O0. Seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried. On motion duly carrled~ City Attorney Wilson was ne×t authorlzed~an~ directed to file an appearance for ~nsoector Duncan. in the suit instituted against him by Harrell for damages resulting from the accident on August 8, 1944. The Clerk next advised that the 100 sq. ft. lot in Evergreen Cemetery that was reserved by the owner of the property at the time the City aclu!red it for cemetery purposes, has been acquired by the County thru foreclosure of tax liens, ~n8 can be purchased at a price of $25.00. Thereupon Com~Issloner Gut moved that the Clerk be authorized to purchase the aforesaid property at a price of $25.00 Seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried. The Clerk next reported ths~tC~P.Henderson, caretaker of cemeteries has been ill for several months and is still tncao~cita~ed from manual work ~ Thereupon after careful consideration and on motion duly carried, the Commission authorized and directed the payment of Mr. Hen~erson's salary in full thru the month of July, and only one-half of it during the months of August and Seotember,19~5, provided h~,ls ~lll Incapacitated. On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the payment of County taxes for year 1~44 in ~mount of ~9.4.6 against Lot 7 Block 2 ~nd Lot 3, Block 12 Mayfalr. Thls~property having been acquired by the City thru foreclosure of taxes and special assessment liens. The Chairman ne~t advised that the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce hsd re- tained the services of W.T.Wolfe, Traffic Consultant, for the ensuing year at a fee of $2,5OO.00, of which the funds for this our~ose had been contributed by local growers and shippers, but that it would probably need some financial assistance from the City for this ourpose the following year, and same was given favorable consid- eration. The Clerk next presented tentative budget of revenues and exoendltures for fiscal year 1945-46, and same was taken under consideration and study.
