071845-Special Called SessionMINUTES CITY COMMISSION, SAN~ORD, FLORIDA, July 18 at 10:00 A M 19. 45 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Called session at' the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 10:00. o'clock A.M. July 15, 1945. Present: Commissioner Edward Hlggins, Mayor. # H.James Gut " W.C. Hill " M. J. Lodge City Clerk H.N. Sayer Absent: Ccmmlss loner Geo. D. Bishop Meeting called to order b2~ the Chairman who announced that the purpose of the meeting was to consider an application of Mr. Davldson, ~owner of the Dubsdread Country Club at Orlando, to lease or purchase the municipal golf course property for the purpose of operating a Country Club; also to handle any other business that may come before the Board at this time. The Commission then proceeded to a lengthy duscussion of Mr. Davidson's proposition to lease the Municipal Golf Course, and after careful consideration of both proposals, Commissioner Hill moved that the City offer the aforesaid property for sale to Mr. David~on at a price of $12,500.00 with a stipulation in the deed of conveyance that he will maintain the present nine hole golf course and also re-open the back nine holes and maintain an eighteen hole golf course within a period of two years; also, that a reversion clause be embodied in the deed providing for the property to revert to the City at such time it ceases to be used as a golf course, or, maintained in playing condition. Seconded by Commissioner Gut and carried. On motion of Commissioner Gut, seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried, the Com- mission next authorized the purchase of a cook stove from Hill Hardware at a price of $168.00, to replace the old stove in the City Jail that has worn beyond repairs. The Clerk next advised that the United States Department of Commerce is offering a lot of surplus used equipment for sale to states, counties and municipalities, which consists of automobiles, trucks, pumps, road machinery and other equipment located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, stating that he had obtained the prince list on some of the trucks and road machinery and that some of the prices seem very reasonable, providing the equipment is in good condition. Thereupon after considerable discussion, and in view of the fact that the City is in need of two dump trucks, and two garbage trucks to replace those that have worn to such an extent as to hinder their efficiency, and also in need of road machinery to rebuild the dirt streets throughout the City, Commissioner Gut moved that the Clerk be authorized and directed to make an 'inspection of this surplus equipment offered for sale by the government, and to purchase at lease four trucks, a large patrol grader, a 10-ton roller and any other equipment that the City may need at this time, and that funds be appropriated in the 19~5-19~ budget for payment o~ the aforesaid equipment. , Seconded by Commissioner Hill and carried. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
