The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special called
session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:00 o'clock Noon,
October 20,1945 .

Neeting called to order by the Chairman who announced that the meeting had
been called at the request of Chief of Police Williams to consider a matter in which
one of the police officers was involved.
Chief of Police Williams then reported, of the altercation of police officer
Ernest N. Lee with. J.H.Truluok on the morning of October 20,1945, at corner of Park
Avenue and Commercial Street, which occurred after Nr.~ Truluck had stopped police
officers R.L. Gillyard and Lee while driving south on Park Avenue, to inquire about
a colored prisoner in the City Jail; stating that as a result of the altercation,
Nr. Truluck resisted arrest and officer Lee struck him .over the head with a blackjack.
Chief Williams also reported that upon investigation of the trouble he had suspended
Officer Lee from the Police Department because of his conduc, t in the fo?egoing inciden~
but found that officer Gillyard was not involved in the altercation.
Thereupon the Commission approved the action taken by Chief of Police Williams
in this matter.
There being no further business the meeting then adjourned.
