M'19 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at lO:O0 o, clock A.E~.December 22,1945. Lodg · Meeting called to order by the Chairman who announced that the purpose of the meeting was to confer with' Mr J R Br~/nnan, Chief Property Officer Bureau of Community . Facilities of Federal Works Agency, with reference to the City acquiring the U.S.O. building located in Fort Mellon Park and waterworks facilities constructed by the Federal Works Agency, at such time this property becomes surplus to the Federal Government. The Waterworks facilities having been constructed by the Federal Government in 1943 and leased to the City for the pUrpose of supplying water to the Sanford Naval Air Base, and the Recreation Building constructed on City-owned property and lease to the United'Service Organization. Mr. Brenman then advised the CommisSion that the Federal Works Agency had granted local communiti~s first priority to purchase such facilities but the Federal Government is expecting a return of at least'50~ of the cost on the sale of Lanham Act Facilities, however, it is sometime possible to arrange for the purchase at some different value on non-revenue producing facilities. He also advised that the U,S.0. Building was con- structed and equipped at a total cost of $23,130.96, and the Waterworks Facilities at a tota~ cost of $14,600.00. ThereuPon after considerable discussion, and on motion duly adopted, the Commission authorized Mr Brennan to submit to the Federal Works Agency an offer of $5,500.00 .for the purchase of the U.S.O.Bullding and equipment under a lease option agreement, and balance in four annual installments in amount of $1,100.00 each; payable $1,100.00 ca~h/; and an offer of $?,300.00 for the purchase of.the Waterworks Facilities under a lease option agreement, less the rental in sum of $2,500.00 already paid toward price under present lease agreement, balance of $4,800.-O0 payable $1,200.00 cash and balance in three annual installments in amount of $1,200.00 each.
