Florida, met in adjourned regular M. February 19, Present: Commissioner F. A. Dyson, Mayor " Andrew Carraway " John D. Ivey " Sam A. Martins, Jr., " W.H. Stemper City Attorney A. Edwin Shinholser City Manager Clifford McKlbbln, Jr., City Clerk H. N. Sayer Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Commissioner Carraway then moved that the meeting adjourn not later than 9:30 P.M. Seconded by Commissioner Martina and carried. The Commission next proceeded to a study of report of revenues and expenditures to date in r~latlon to current fiscal year's budget, as prepared by the City Manager for the purpose of considering an increase in salaried and wages of employees because of increased cost of living. Such report showing a savings could be affected in the operating expenses additional by curtailing expenses in several departments, thus, creating a~/surplus of $8,515.00 during fiscal year, with recommendations for a 5% wage and salary increase for all full time em- or les~ ployees earning under $3,600.00/annually, which would amount to $4,475.00 and leave a net contingent of,$15,937.50. Thereupon Commissioner Carraway moved the acceptance of recommendations of the City Manager to curtail operating expenses for remainder of fiscal year, as outlined in the aforesaid report, and that a 5% increase in salaries and wages of all full time employees earning under $3,600.00 be authorized. Seconded by Commissioner Stemper and carried. Commissioner Carraway next introduced Resolution No. 791, and after being read in full, moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by ComMissioner Stemper and carried by the following vote of the Com- mission: Commissioner Dyson Aye " Carraway Aye " Ivey Aye " Martins Aye " Stemper Aye Said Resolution No. 791, being in words and figures as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF BANFORD, FLORIDA EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA, WITH REFERENCE TO CERTAIN RESURFACING WORK ON SANFORD AVENUE, DONE AT THE DIRECTION OF SAID COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. WH~AS, That portion of Sanford Avenue in the City of Banford, Florida, extending from the City limits northward to Twenty-fifth Street, has recently been resurfaced, pursuant to direction of the Board of County Commissioners of SeMinole County, Florida, which work has resulted in considerable improvement of such portion of Banford Avenue and is of direct be~fit to the City of Sanford and its citizens using such Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to extend appropriate recognition to the Board of County Commissioners for having this work done; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Sanfo~d, that said Commission, in its behalf and in behalf of the Deoole of the City of Sanford, does hereby express its appreciation to the Florida, and particulsrly to Honorable H. B. Sayer, City Clerk 223 With reference to the possibility of having to move the City Dump from the Airport property because Of reactivation by the Navy, the City Manager next reported that it could be placed on the City owned property north of La, Ada. Thereupon Commissioner Carraway moved that l~he dump be moved to t~ aforesaid location, if necessary. Beconded by Commissioner Martins and carried. Request next received from W. A. Morrison, owner of the property abutting on north side of Commercial Btreet between Palmetto Avenue and Sanford Avenue, that the City vacate t~ north 2 feet of said street right-of-way east of the alley in that Block in order to straighten out his property line. Thereupon Commissioner Stemper moved that the necessary Ordinance be prepared to vacate the 2 feet of street right-of-way requested by Mr. Morrison. Beconded by Commissioner Carraway and carried.
