The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florlda, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 7:3© o'clock P.M.May 1, 1951. Present: Commissioner F.A.Dyson, Mayor. Andrew Oarraway ~-- " John Ivey " W H Stemper City Attorney A.Edwin Shimholser City Manager Clifford McKibbln, Jr. City Clerk H.N.Sa~er Absent: Commissioner Sam A Martins Jr. Meeting called to order by the Chairman who announced that the purpose of the meeting was to g~e further consideration to offering the New YOrk Giants other concessions in an endeavor to assist them in acquiring suitable facilities to continue to operate their Farm Clubs Training System in Sanford, should they decline to accept the proposal authorized at meeting of April 23. Thereupon after careful consideration of the requirements of the New York Giants, and on motion of Commissioner Carraway, seconded by Commissioner Ivey and carried, the Commission authorized the following proposal to besubmitted for their consideration: The following proposal is offered for consideration by the National Exhibition Company, consistent with the desire of the City of Sanford to assist the New York Giants in their efforts to acquire suitable facilities to continue to operate the Farm Team Training System in Sanford: The City will acquire rights to the Lease of the Sanford-Seminole Country C~ub except Clubhouse inventory of saleable merchandise, and assign said Lease to the Giants for the remainder of the term of 99 years, at no cost to the New York Giants for said Lease. The New York Giants will construct at their expense four baseball practice fields on property north and east of the Sanford Memorial Stadium field, such property to be made available by the City under a general Lease. The City and the Giants shall enter into an Agreement for Lease for a Lease of term of five years, with option to renew for an additional five years, for the said practice fields to be constz~cted, for the Municipal Baseball Park, and for the Sanford Memorial Stadium, together with clubhouses adjacent, for an annual rental of $2,000.00 such rental to be recognized as being rental on the Memorial Stadium only. Maintenance of buildings and grounds, except the wooden grandstand and bleacher structures in the Municipal Baseball Park, shall be the responsibility of the New York Giants, for the season of practice and of the Florida State League. Written acceptances as to condition, signed by designated representatives of the City or of the Giants may be demanded at the beginning and ending of the above season. The City agrees to paint the structures included herein for maintenance as need is determined by the City. The City agrees to contribute for a period of five years to the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce for special advertising purposes, City property taxes collected on any new buildings constructed in Sanford by the New York Giants within 12 months from date, such contribution to be expended in the same manner as taxes now received from Mayfair Hotel. The New York Giants shall maintain and operate in Sanford, Florida, a team in the Florida State League or any other League with all or part of its franchise holders with a Florida address. All other agreements of any kind existing between the parties except the current agreement for taxes on the Mayfair Inn hotel shall have no further force or effect, and no other verbal agreements shall be binding on either party to these proceedings. The New York Giants shall keep the Golf Course open to Sanford residents and the general public, at rates comparable to those of courses in this area. This offer is made subject to acceptance on or before May 15, 1951, and unless accepted by such date shall be withdrawn in its entirety. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. May or
