M 1952 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, ~lorida, met in adjourned Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. August ~, 1952. Present: Commissioner W. H. Stamper, Mayor " Andrew Csrraway " Randall Chase " John D. Ivey " John L. Kadet City Attorney A. Edwin Shinholeer City Clerk H. N. Bayer City Manager Thomas L. Lemon session at the City Meeting called to order by the Chairman. The first order of business was a Public Hearing to consider rezoning certain district of the Zoning Ordinance in accordance with the following legal notice published in the Sanford Herald on July 18 and 25, 1952: NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED TRICT OF THE ZONING ORDINAMCE OF THE CHANGES AND A~NDMENTS IN CERTAIN DIS- CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA. Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held at the office of the City Commission in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. August 4, 1952, to consider the following changes and amendments to the Zon- ing Ordinance of the City of Sanford, Florida: The propert~ described as Lots 2 and 3 of Block 16 of Chapman & Tucker's Addition, located on Southelde of Second Street between Cypress and Pine Avenues, Zoned in District R-2 (Multiple Family) is proposed to be changed to C-1 (Commercial Retail) District. All parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be he~rd at said hearing. B~ order of the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, this 17th day of July, S/ H.N. The Chairman then announced that the Commission would be glad to hear from any interested parties objecting to rezoning the property described in the fore golng~tice. There being no objections registered, Commissioner Carraway moved that the foregoing des- cribed property be rezoned from R-2 to C-l, ar~ that the City Attorney prepare the necessary ordinance for adopuion. Sec~fled by Coomise]ioner CLass and carried. The Commission then adjourned the Public Hearing and proceeded to transact other business. The Planning Board next met with the Commission to coordinate the program for a Master Plan for future growth and development of the City, the following members being present: Robert S. Brown, Chairman, F. B. Ashdown, Roy Britt, A. L. Colllns,_H. Jam~es Gut, E. F. La~, A. W. Lee and J. Bralley Od?mm. After a lengthy discussion it was felt that the matter of extending the City limits, re- zoning districts for nultiple family and commercial uses, traffic conditions and oarking facili- ties were the most urgent problems confronting th~ City at this time that need to be given first consideration by the Planning Board. On motion of Commissioner Kadet, seconded by Commissioner Chase, and carried, the City Manager was next authorized to go to Atlanta on August 5, to confer with officials of Housing and Home Finance Agency relative to City's application for Federal aid in constructing water and sani- tary sewerage f~clllties. At request of residents within vicinity of Mellonville Avenue and Catalina Drive the City Mananger was next authorized to mow and trim theresa in Spear Grove Park in order that they may install equipment in the park and use it for a playfround for children. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
