and wines to be consumed on permises at 2503 $,nford Avenu$ and on motion of Commissioner Chase,
seconded by Commissioner Ivey and carried, same was denied.
Application next received from Norman Taylor for ~anefer tO him of permit and licenses issued
James M. Butch to sell beer and wines, to be consumed off ~x-emises, at 619 Celery Avenue and on
motion of Commissioner Carraway, seconded by Commissioner Ohase, same was denied.
The City Manager next reported on recent conference with Housing and Home Finance Agency
in Atlanta relative to City's application for Federal aid toward constructing proposed water and
sanitary sewerage facilities, and stated that he was advised the City could not expect any more
financial assistance from the Federal government than was~rranted by the defense lmoact of the
Sanford Naval Air Station on the services and facilities of the City, which was estimated to be
about one-seventh of the cost of the projects, and that the Housing and Home Finance Agency
would advise the City within two weeks whether or not they would reco~end filing formal appli-
cation for such assistance.

mediate acquisition of an additional 144 acres of orivately owned land adjoining the Sanford Naval

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
On motion of Commissioner Csrraway, seconded by Commissioner Ivey and carried, minutes of
regular meeting of July 28 and adjourned meeting of August ~, 1952, approved.
Monthly reports of streets, sanitatlon,h~lth, water, fire, police and library departments
for month of July 1952, submitted and examined.
On motion of Commissioner Carraway, seconded by Commissioner Ivey and carried, current ln-
voices and payrolls for month of July 1952, as evidenced by Vouche~ Nos. 8131 thru 8258, next
approved and payment authorized.
Application next received from Alton Burke, colored, to t~anafer his taxi-cab permit and
license to Leroy McLindon, and on motion of Commissioner Chase, seconded by Commissioner Ivey
and carried, same was approved.
Apolication next received from G. H. Sykes, sub-leases of Motors Inn Service Station at
southwest corner of Seminole Boulevard and French Avenue, for permit to construct a room, size
6' ~ 23' of metal construction with concrete floor, on rear of main building. This property
owned by the City and leased to Shell Oil Company.
After discussion, Commissioner Carraway moved that the permit be granted provided it will
