The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P, M. August 18, 1952. Pre~ent: Commissioner W. H. Lemon Meeting called to order by the Chairman. On motion of Commissioner Carraway, seconded by Commissioner Ivey and carried, minutes of regular meetings of April 14, and 28, adjourned meeting of May 9, regular meetings of May 12 and 26, adjourned me,:ting of June 2, r~gular meeting of June 9 and 23, adjourned meetings of July 7 and ll, and regular meeting of July 14, 1952, were approved. The City Manager next submitted request of L. P. Payton for the City to extend the 6" water main on Second Street from Bum~erlin Avenue east l~ ~lock to city limits in order to furn- ish water service for hie property on Crescent Blvd., wl~ch he will install and connect to the main. The estimated cost of installing the main and one fire hydrant being $1,237.00. After considerable discuselon Commissioner Chase moved Zhat the City install the 6" water main, provided Mr. Payton will execute an agreement that in consideration of the provisions of such water connection he and any subsequent connectors will cor~ent to the inclusion of their property within the city limits at any time. Seconded by Commissioner Carraway and carried. The Clerk next reported that the State Road Department ~ad approved and returned the Ap- praisal Report of property to be acquired for widening French Avenue, together with prepared stipulation ~greements to be executed by the property o~ers agreeing to accept the amounts shown on the report. Thereupon after discussion it was felt tl~t it would expedite the acquisition of the right of way to employ someone who could devote the proper ~ime In negotiating with the property owners, and on motion of Commissioner Carraway, seconded by Commissioner ~haee and carried, the City Manager was authorized to negotiate with outside counsel relative to handling the matter for t~ City. On motion of Comnissioner Chase, secon~d by Commissioner Ivey and carried, the Commission next authorized the salary of Mrs. Mary Brewerton, assistant librarian, increased from ~75.00 to ~105.00 per month, retroactive to July 1. With reference to Zhe transfer of taxicab license of Alton Burke to Leroy McLindon, which was authorized by the Commission at meeting of August ll, the Clerk next reported that said license had e×pired on September 30, 1951. Thereupon Commissioner Ivey moved the issuance of license to Leroy McLlndon to operate a taxicab to replace the license formerly held by Alton Burke. Seconded by Commissioner Kader and carried. The Commission ~hen proceeded to a lengthy study and discussion of the proposed b~get of revenues and expenditures for fiscal year 1952-53, final action deferred,pending further consider~ ation.
