Beptember 2, 1952.
Mr. J. D. Cordell and John Krider next appeared with reference to Seminole High School
and 0rooms Academy using the Municipal Memorial Stadium for playing football games during the
coming season. They pointed out the advantages of seating, parking and lighting facilities of
the stadium over the high school field, and advised thst the principals and coaches of both schools
were agreeable to using the stadium for such games if satisfactory arrangements could be worked out
with the City. They further advised that the cost of converting the baseball diamond for foot-
ball games should not exceed $200.00, and felt that satisfactory arrangements could be worked
out with the schools to pay such cost and also the cost for lighting and maintenance.
After discussion Commissioner Xader moved that the City arrange to allow the high schools
to use the stadium for playing football games provided satisfactory arrangements can be made, ar~l
that the City Manager, J. D. Cordell, and John Krlder be authorized tO confer with Principal
Herman Morris of Seminole High School and Principal J. N. Orooms of Crooms Academy, relative to
working out details of an ag-reement for playing such games in the stadium, with authority to
start immediate conversion of the field if satisfactory agreement can be reached. Seconded by
Commissioner Carraway and carried.
Forrest Breckenridge, Manager of Seminole County Chamber of Commerce, next appeared with
reference to a proposed program to celebrate the ?Sth anniversary of the incorporation of San-
ford on September 29, and same was approved by the Commission.
The Board then proceeded to a further study and discussion of ~he proposed budget of revenues
and expenditures for fiscal year 1952-53, in which Commissioner Carraway moved that the automobile
used by Fire 0hie~ be painted red, same color as the other fire e~Alpment. Seconded by Com-
missioner Ivey and carried.
Commissioner Kadet next moved that the salary of municipal Judge be increased to $150.00
per month in the 1952-53 budget, but same died for lack of a second. The salary having already
been increased to $125.00 per month at ~he budget meeting of August 18.
Final action on the budget was deferred, pending further study and consideration.
