The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special called session
st the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 10:30 o'clock P. M. February 6, 1956.

Commissioner Higginbott~m then moved the waiver of the requirement of "Written Notice"
of this special called meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Ratigan and carried unanimously.
Commissioner Higginbotham next introduced Resolution No. 86~ and after being read in
full, moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Ratigan and carried by the
following vote of the Commission:

REAFFIFiM. ING. RESOLUTION.NO. 847 ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 26, 1955, AND FUR-
Th]ER REQUESTING THE STATE ROAD DEPARTMENT OF THE' STATE '0F FLORIDA TO
RESURFACE AND V~IDEN A PORTION OF STATE HIGH~'AY 15 (U. S. 17-~2) IN
THE CI~T OF SAhUFORD, FLORIDA.
BE IT PZSOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
WHEREAS By Resolution No. 8a. 7 passed and adopted by the City Commission of the City of
Sanford, Florida on September 26, 1955, the State Road Department of the State of Florida was
requested to widen and resurface State Highway 15 (U. S. 17-92) resurfacing :the same in its
entirity and widening the same from 23rd Street to i:ts southern terminus in the City of San-
ford, Florida by reason of excessive and extreme traffic congestion and traffic hazards and
by further reason of excessive deterioration caused by rapidly increasing traffic flow, and
WHEREAS, Since the date of the aforesaid Resolution the portion of said highway has
become increasingly congeared and deteriorated, and at the present time is an extrethely con-
geared and hazardous main artery for traffic, bot.h for the citizens of this community and for
the people of the State of Florida, and that said deterioration and congeared, hazardous con-
dition requires that said section be resurfaced and widened as aforesaid,
NOW THEEFOE BE IT RESOLVED By the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida,
that the City of Sanford does .hereby respectfully reaffirm its request and further urges the
Sty. re Road Department of the State of Florida to proceed at the earliest possible date with
the resurfacing of State Road 15, kno~m as Park Avenue, in its entirity, and with the widening
of that dangerous section above described, so that traffic on this mains rtery may be safely
expedited and that this request be transmitted without delay to the proper officials of the
State of Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.

A replat of St.. John's Village Subdivision, as prepared by A. C. Doudney, Registered
Land. Surveyor, next submitted for approval.
After study and. discussion of the aforesaid replat, Commissioner Krider moved its
approval and acceptance. Seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried.
Commissioner Krider then introduced Resolution No. 865 and after being read in full,
moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried by the
following vote of the Commission:

RESCINDING AND VACATING THE IEDICATION OF MEISCH PARK AS A.PARK, AS
THE SAME APPEARS IN THE PLAT OF ST. JOHN'S VILLAGE RECORDED IN PLAT
BOOK 9, PAGE 95, SENINOLE COUNTY PUBLIC RECORDS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
WHEREAS, The p-lot of St. John's Village was approved by the City of Sanford, Florida
at a meeting held on September 28, 1955, and
WHEREAS, Certain portions of said plat were reserved and set aside as a public park,
known as Meisch Park, and
WHEREAS, It appears that no expenditures for public improvements have been made pursu-
ant to such dedication and that no acceptance of dedication ~s been made for public use and
that it is for the best interests of the public that the purpose for which said dedication
was made be abandoned and the dedication vacated,
'NOW THEHEFORE, Be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida
that the dedication as a park of the property described as Meisch Park according to the plat
of St. John's Village, as recorded in Plat Book 9, Page 95, Seminole County Public Records, be
and the same is hereby revoked," vacated and rescind. ed, and that the City Commission of the
City of Sanford, Florida has no further claim thereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City
Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, anti that the same become effective immediately
upon its passage and adoption.

approved by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida on February 28, 1955 and
Tamarind Avenue vas therein dedicated as a street, and
WHEPjEAS It appears that no ey. penditures for public improvement ~hsve been made pursuant
to such dedication, and that no acceptance of said dedication has been made by public use, ard
WHEREAS, A replat of said St. John's Village has been presented to the City Commission
for its approval, wherein a portion of Tamarind Avenue has been platted into lots, and it
appears that no property has been sold in said St. John's Village, and that it is to the best
interests of the public t~t'sa~d dedication be abandoned and vacated,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED By the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida,
that Tamarind Avenue from its intersection on the south ~^,ith the ACL Railroad north to its
intersection with Fifth Street according to plat of St. John's Village, as recorded in Plat
Book 9, Page 95, Seminole County Public Records, be and the same is hereby vacated'and
abandoned as a public street in the City of Sanford, Florida.

The Commission next proceeded to a lengthy discussion of the matter of engaging a firm
of engineers for the purpose of making a survey to determine ~hether or not the City could
take over the distribution and selling of pox~Ter within the city limits and receive a fair
return on the investment, action being deferred, pending further consideration.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
