MINUTES
City Commission, Sanford, Florida, Special Meeting at 8 P. M.I~.May 10, 1956,
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special called session at
the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00' P. N. May 10, 1956.
Present:
Commissioner F. D. Scott, Mayor

City Attorney W. C. Hutchison, Jr.,
City Clerk H. N. Sayer
City Manager W. E. Knowlea
Meeting called ~ order by the Chairman.
Commissioner Higginbotham then moved the waiver of the requirement of "Written Notice"
of this special called meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Gatchel and carried.
Commissioner Higginbotham next introduced Resolution No. 871 and after being read in
full, moved its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner Krider and carried by the
following vote .of the Commission:

Said Resolution'No. 871 being in words and figures as follows:
ARESOLUTION OF THE CITY CONMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
COMMENDING CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON FOR UNTIRING EFFORTS IN PROMOT-
ING GOOD ELATIONS AND COOPERATION BETWEEN THE CITY OF S ANFORD,
FLORIDA, Ak~ SANFORD NAVAL AUXILIARY AIR STATION.
I~WHEREAS, CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON is now and FIas for some time past been Commander
of the Sanford Naval Auxiliary Air Station located at Sanford, Florida, and
WHEREAS, CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON has worked diligently and untiringly to promote a
high degree of cooperation between said Station and the City of Sanford, Florida, and to
improve the relations between Station personnel and t he citizens of the City of Sanford, such
efforts being eminently successful, and
WHEP~AS, CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON has constantly offered. the help and cooperation
of himself and said Station in all projects pertaining to Station and City welfare to the
extent that successful relations and cooperation are at the ~resent time on the highest plane
since mid Station has been in operation,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida
~hat CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON be and he is hereby commended on behalf of the City Commission
and the people of the City of~Sanford, Florida for his outstanding effort in promoting co-
operation and relationship between Sanford Naval Auxiliary Air Station and the City of Sanford
and that this Resolution express the sincere thanks of the City Commission and the people of
the City of Sanford, Florida to CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON for his outstanding leadership and
efforts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of t he City Com-
mission of the City of Sanford, Florida, a copy thereof be sent to the Secretary of the Navy
with a request that it be made a permanent part of the record of CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON,
and that ~ pies thereof be delivered to CAPTAIN ROBERT W. JACKSON and the local press.
BE IT FURTHERRESOLVED' That this Resolution become ~fective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
