The City CommisSion of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M., June 4, 1956, for the pur-
pose of a Public Hearing ~o consider changes and amendments in certain districts of the
Zoning Ordinance.

Meeting called to order by the Chairman whoa nnounced th~ this hearing w~s cal~d
for the purpose of considering the rezoning of the property as proposed and described in
the following legal "Notice" which was published in the Sanford Herald on May 16 and 23,
1956:
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED CHANGES AND
AMENDMENTS IN CERTAIN DISTRICTS AND BOUNDARIES OF
THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA.
Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held at the office of the
City Commission in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. June
4, 1956, to consider the following changes and amendments to the Zoning Ordinance of the City
of Sa~ ord, Florida.
(a)
The property zoned i'n District R-1-A (Single-Family),
located between 25~h Street and Satira Street and
adjacent to property abutting on West side of French
Avenue, is proposed to be changed to C-T (Transient-
Commercial) District. Said property being more par-
ticularly described as Lot 10, the East one-half of
Lots ll and 34, and all of Lot 35 of Block 9, Dream-
wold.
(b)
The property zoned in District R-1-A (Single-Family,
located on East side of Mellonville Avenue between
8thStreet and Celery Avenue, is proposed to be changed
to R-2 (Multiple-Family) District. Said pm perry being
more particularly described as Lots 10, 11, 12, 13, 22,
23 and 24 of Pace Acres.
All parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard
at said hearing.

At this time alett. er was submitted from the Zoning and Planning Commission'~l!re-
questing that the proposal to fezone the property described in paragraph (a) of the foregoing
notice be referred back to them for further consideration and recommendation, and on motion
of Commissioner Ga~chel, seconded by Commissione:r Higginbotham and carried, same was so ordered.
The Chairman then announced that the Commission would be glad to hear from anyone
in favor of, or against rezoning the property as proposed and described in paragraph (b)
of said notice.
No objections were registered, but in view oft he property described as Lots 10, 11
12 and 13, of Pace Acres, being adjacent to a h~hly restricted residential zone, Commissioner
Gatchel
l/moved that only Lots 22, 23 and 24 of Pace Acres, and the unplatted property described as

that the City Attorney prepare the necessary Ordinance for adoption. Seconded by Commissioner
Hlgginbotham and carried.
The Commission then adjourned the Public Hearing and immediately reconvened for the
purpose c~ considering other matters that may come before the Board at this time.
All members of the Commission being present, Commissioner Higginbotham moved ~he
waiver of the requiremen~ of "Writt n 'Notice" of this special meeting which was seconded

by Commissioner Wilson and 'carried unanimously.
Petition next submitted from W. C. Hill and W. W. Pixler, owners of all property
abutting on Myrtle Avenue from Fourth Street north ~o the southerly property line of righ~
of way of A~lantic Coast Line Railroad Company located between Third and Fourth S~reet, re-
questing the City to vacate and abandon this portion of Myrtle Avenue since it has never been
opened, used or maintained as a public street.
After discussion, it was felt that this portion of Myrtle Avenue could never be
feasibly opened as a public street, due to the railros~ company maintaining a switch and
branch tracks in their right of way,at north end, and on motion of Commissioner Hi~ginbo~ham,
seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried, the Commission approved the request and in-
structed the City Attorney to prepare the necessary Ordiname for adoption.
The City Attorney next advised that due to certain restrictions in the deed of
conveyance from Seminole County to the City, of the property located at Southeas~ corner of
8th Street and Nellonville Avenue, which can only be released by Act of Legislature, the
City will not be able to convey to the New York Giants Baseball ClUb the site for their
proposed domitory in accordance with offer authorized by the Commission under Resolution
No. 869, passed and adopted on April 9, 1956.
After discussion and careful consideration, and on motion of Commissioner Higgin-
botham, seconded by Commissioner Ga~chel and carried, the Commission then authorized an offer
to be submitted to the New'York Giants Baseball Club, to convey to ~hem the following described
portion of the City's old baseball park property in lieu of the site a~ 8th Street and
Begin at the intersection of of the Easterly R/W line of Mellonville Ave

Celery Avenue, thence run Northerly along said Easterly R/W line of Nellonville Avenue
350.86 ft., thence run East 300 ft parallel with said Celery Avenb~, thence run South 350
to a point 32A~.60 ft East df the point of beginning, said point being on the North line of
Celery Avenue, thence run West 324.60 ~ to the point of beginning..
