The City Commission of the City of Sanford., Florida, met in'Special called Session at
the City Hall ~ n the City of Sanford, Florida, at A~:00 o'clock P. M. June 28, 1956.

Meeting called. to order by the Chairman who announced that there was a probability of
the Governor calling a Special Session of State Legislature, which would convene around July
23, and the meeting had been called for the purpose of submitting a request to the Legislative
Delegation to pass:'.a Special Act at this Special Session, authorizing the City to annex new
areas surrounding the City through petition of the property owners within the'area affected.
Thereupon after discussion, Commissioner Krider introduced Resolution No. 873, and after
being read in full, moved its passage and adoption.

Said Resolution No. 873 being as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CIT~ OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE STATE
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION TO CONSIDER AND PASS, AT THE EARLIEST POS-
SIBLE MOMENT, A SPECIAL ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF SANFOE, FLORIDA,
TO ANkrEX NEW AREAS SURROUNDING THE CITY OF SANFORD THROUGH PETITION
OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS REQUESTING AN ANNEXATION WITHIN THE AREA ~'
AFFECTED.
WHEREAS, The City of Sanford, Florida has experienced phenomenal growth and increased
business activity, and
WHEREAS, It has become apparent that there is an immediate and pressing need_ to extend
the boundaries of the City of Sanford, Florida through annexation of Contiguous areas,
NOW THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Sanford, Florida that the state legis-
lative delegation from Seminole County be and they are hereby requested to consider and pass
at the earliest possible date, a special act authorizing the City of Sanford., Florida to
annex new areas to the City of Sanford, Florida through petition requesting annexation and
signed by a majority of the property owners within the area affected.
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of
the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, and further copies thereof deliu~ered
to the legislative delegation, and that this 'Resolution become effective immediately upon
its passage and adoption.
