The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met .in regular session at the City
Hall in the City of Banford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. January 14, 1957

Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
On motion of Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Scott and carried, minutes
of regular annual meeting~ of January 8, 1957, approved.
Mr. Donald Brooks, president of Ban~o~d~i Shuff~leboard Club, appeared and requested the
City to replace ten park benches at the courts in Fort Mellon Park that are in delapidated
condition, and also one of the doors, which he said would be needed for the Central Florida
Tournament that will be held in Sanford on January 22-23.
~After discussion, and in view of the limited time in which to replace or repair the
benches for the tournament, Commiseloner Higginbotham moved that the City loan the Shuffleboar~
Club ten benches for such purpose, and also repair or replace the door in question. Seconded
by Commissioner Warner and carried.
The City Manager next reported that satisfactory negotiations were being worked out with
the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company for re-opening Fulton Street from Oak Avenue extended,
west to French Avenue.

Mayor Gatchel next reported of meeting with the General/Memorial Library and Museum Ass'n
concerning the new Memorial & MuSeum Building, which will be dedicated and turned over to the
City on February 8, 1957, in which he advised that the matter of installing a burgular alarm
and iron bars on the windows, landscaping the grounds, maintenance of the property, insurance,
e~ployment of a librarian to catalogue all books and papers:, and a permanent librarian to
operate the library after the preliminary work is completed, were discussed as immediate
that will have to be considered by the City.
After discussion, it was felt that the Commission should have a Joint meetirg with the
Memorial Library and Museum Association and the Board of County Commissioners to work out the
necessary arrangements for maintaining and operating the Memorial Library & Museum, and the
City Manager was directed to arrange for such a meeting.
The City Manager next reported that recommendations had been made to the State Road De-
partment by their division engineer that Park Avenue be abandoned as part of State Road ~
and turned back to ~he City.
Thereupon after discussion and consideration, Commissioner Higginbotham moved that ~the
City Attorney prepare a resolution requesting the State Road Department to continue maintaining
Park Avenue aa an official link of Road 15 and Highway 17-92. Seconded by Commissioner Scott
and carried.

Commission next granted Sanford Manufacturers, Inc., an extension for slxtydays on option expi:
lng January 23, 1957, to purchase the City owned property at northwest corner of First Btreet a~
Poplar Avenue.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF' SANFORD, FLORIDA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION
NUMBER 683, DATED NOVEMBER 13, 1944, INSOFAR AS THE SAME RELATES
TO LOTS 1 AND 2, I~KEVIEW PARK, ACCORDING TO PLAT BOOK 3, PAGE 41,
SEMINOLE COUNTY PUBLIC RECORDS, PRESENTLY DEDICATED AS A PARK AND
VACATING THE DEDICATION OF. SUCH PROPERTY AS A PARK, AS MADE BY
SAID RESOLUTION, AND REQUESTING THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SEMI-
NOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO REVOKE THEIR DEDICATION OF SUCH PROPERTY
AS A PUBLIC PARK, AND TO. OFFER SAID PROPERTY FOR SALE.
WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 683 adopted Novembe~ 13, 1944, the City CommissionePs of the
City of Sanfor~, Florida requested the County Commissioners of Seminole County, Florida to
dedicate the progerty hereinafter described for use as a public park, and by said Resolution
the City Oommissbn concurred in the dedicatim of said property for said purpose, and
WHEREAS, The said County Commissioners of Seminole County, Florida, by Resolu.tion, s et
forth in the minutes of said County CommisSion, did dedicate the said property for said put-
pose, and
WHEREAS, It appears that no expenditures for public improvements have been m~e pursuant
to such dedication and that no acceptance of dedication has been made by public use, and that
it is for the best interests of the public that the purpose forwhich said dedication was
made be abandoned and the dedication vacated, and that such property be. offered for sale,
and said Board of County Commissioners have indicated a desire to offer said property for
sale, and it is appropriate that the aforesaid dedication be r.e. voked prior to any sale of
said property by said Board of County Commissioners,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By. the City Commission of the City of Sanfo~,, that
Resolution No. 683, adopted November 13, 1944, be and the same is hereby rescinded insofar
as the same applies to the following property situate, lying and being in the City of
Sanford, Florida and the County of Seminole, Florida, to-wit:
Lots 1 and 2, Lakevlew Park, according to Plat
thereof recorded in Plat Book 3, page 41, Public
Records of Seminole County, Florida.
and that the dedication of said property for use as a public park as provided in said Reso-
lution be and the same is hereby revoked, vacated and rescinded.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLMED, That the Board of County Commissioners of Seminole County,
Florida, be and they are hereby requested to vacate and revoke their dedication of the above-
described property, aforesaid, as appeared by Resolution and adopted by said Board of County
Commissioners and that the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida does-hereby concu~
in and agree to the vacating and r evoking of such dedication by the said County Commissioners
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That said County Commisshn is hereby requested, after vacating i'
of the aforesaid dedication, to offer said property for sale, at a price not less than Nine
Thousaid ($9,000.00) Dollars, which said s.um the City Commission of the City of Sanfo~,
Florida, hereby declares to be reasonable and does concur in as a minimum sale price, said
concurrence being conditioned upon the equal distribution between the City and .the. County
of the proceeds realized from said sale.

Sanford Atlantic-National Bark for the purpose of depositing therein U. S. Government Bonds
purchased for Police Bension Fund and the Utility Meter Deposit Fund.
There being no further busiuess the meeting adjourned.
