A. Yelvington presented a proposed electric code dra~ up with the ~operation of the Master Electricians of the 0ity, which will cover the i~pection and relnspection of electrical wiri~. Mr. E. O. Harper, Master Electrician, spoke In favor of adopting this code for the in- creased protection of the ~blic, a~ pointed out t~t the fees in comparison with those of other communities In this area we?e reasonable and fair. M. 19 57 279 Mr. Yelvington stated that .the fees were the same or less than the fees for this area, but overall that the fees covered by the code would be increased about 35%, Moved by Commissioner Scott, seconded by Commissioner Wilson, and carried to approve the electrical code as submitted, effective November 1, 1957. Mr. A. H. Gaede, President of Rome ~-as Company, owners of the Sanferd Gas Company,. next appeared and explained the request for lO.permits to break through streets to repair gas mains, pointing .out that a survey team had reported 39 leaks, and that the companys local workers had repaired all but 11 leaks, which they were contracting to have repaired. City Manager Knowles stated at first the Gas Company did not apply for a permit and that the proposed repairs had come to h~s attention tbmough their contractor, also, that six of the iht ended repairs were in newly pe~ed areas. Mr. Arthur Greet, Manager of the 8anford Gas Company, appeared next and stated that their contractor had net been authorized to proceed with any work~. City Attorney Hutchison informed Messers. 6aede and Greet:that the purpose of the meeting wes to inform the Banford Gas Company to comply?ith sections 6, ? and 8 of their franchise with the City. Roved by Commissiorw Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Scott, and carried, that the 10 permits be granted, with instructions that the repairs of the streets he in compliance with the franchise. Meesers. Brailey Odham and A. B. Petereon Jr., presented a:-~proposed development program in cooperation with the Seminole County School Board of the 55 acre tract west of Route 17-92 owned by the City. Moved by Commission~ Hlgginbotham, seconded by Commissioner Scott to grant Mr. Brailey Odham an option of 60 days for this 55 acre tract at a price of $500.00 per acre, with the condition that this area will be developed in cooperation with the Seminole County School Boar~ for the benefit of all citizens of the county. After considerable discussion, and moved by Commissioner Wllscn, seconded by Commissions Warner to table the above motion, and upon roll call the vote of the Commission follows: Commissioner Gatchel Yea u Higginbotham Naye # Scott Naye # Warner Naye # Wilson Yea Thereupon, the Chairman announced that the move to table the motion had failed to be carried, and called for a roll call vote on the original motion to grant the above describe option, and on roll call of the Commission the vote stands as follows: 0ommis si one r Gatchel Naye ~ Higglnbot ham Yea " Scott Yea " Warner Yea " Wil s o n Na ye Mr. Bralley Odham voiced appreclatlon for the consideration by the Commission, however, he declined the offer of the option because it was not by unanimous approval of the Commission Consideration next given to ordinance controlling off-street parking, on motion by Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by CommisSioner Warner, and carried, to exclude presently existing churches from being covered by these.~restrictions.
