City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjoUrned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, on October 21, 1957 at 8:0~ o'clock P. M. Present: Commissioner David M. G' Williams Absent: Commissioner Earl Hlgglnbotham Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Mr. H. C, Gee of the firm of consulting engineers of Gee & Jenson, presented a report of Proposed Barge Terminal at Sanford, FlOrida, in acc~dance with agreement as authorizeda~ meeting of June 24, 19%?, and poi~nted out that a Chart of Proposed Rates would be submitted later to c~mplete the report. Mr. Gee reviewed the report and stated the greatest volume of freight would be from single strength canned orange Juice. Mr. John Krider, manager of the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce, spoke in .favor of constructing the proposed terminal. Mr. John Bur~ton, Architect for ~he Civic Center, appeared next to explain the types and cost of Terrazzo floors available for this building. After cons~ oration and on motion, of Commissioner Wilson,' seconded by Commis~oner Scott and carried, Architect Burton was authorized to ~prepare an addendum to include Mono- litchic Terrazzo for~the Civic Center at a cost of $2,590.00. Recommendation received from the Zoning and PlannirgOommlssion that Lots ? thru 16, Pine Heights and Lots 1 thru 6, Teagues Addition, be rezoned from R-1 to C-N. Thereupon after careful consideration, Commissioner Wilson. moved to hold a public hearing on November 11, 1957 ~o consider rezonlng from R-1 to C-N 'the aforesaid property. Seconded by Commissioner scott and carried. Recommendation recel~ved from the Zoning and Planning Commission that property zoned R-2 located between San Carlos Avenue and La, view Avenue, bounded on the North by First Street and on the South by Second. Street be changed to Thereupon after careful consideration, Commissioner Wilson moved to hold a public hearing on November 11, 19%?, to consider rezoning from R-2 to C-N the aforesaid property. Seconded by Commissioner Warner and carried. Letter next submitted from the Housing Authority of the City of Sanford, ~lorida requesting repaying of various perimeter streets of Castle Brewer Oourt and Willlam~Olark Court, and same was taken under advisement. Commissioner Wilson was apPointed acting mayor due to the absence of Mayor Gatchel from ~he City during the coming week. City Manager Knowles reported that the State Board of Health had accepted the feasi- bility report of a sewage treatment plant submit~ed by engineering firm of Smith & Glllisple, and had increased the City's priority rating by one point towards receiving consideration under Public Law No. 660. After discussion, moved by Commissioner Scott to pay to Smith &~illispie, C~sulting Engineers, the sum of $2,~00.00 in accordance with agreement as au~horlzed at meeting of MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida,.
