The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in regular session at the
City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 8:00 o'clock P..M. on May 25, 1959.
Present: Commissioner A. L. Wilson, Mayor

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
Brailey Odham, next appeared to request the City to install an additional 6" Water
line in Pinecrest area so as to give sufficient water pressure to residents of South Pine-
crest 4th Addition.
After discussion and on motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Comm.,
Brown and carried, the City Manager was authorized to prepare estimated costs of a line to
better supply this area and the Sanford Avenue area.
After consideration and on motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner
Baker and carried, action of the Commission of the meeting of May 11 to purchase confection-
~~ ary supplies from Lance Inc., was reversed, and awarded to Tom Houston Company.
On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried,
the Commission approved the provision for constructing homes under Sec. 221, of H. H. F. A.
regulations, provided that houses are for single family occupancy and meet the zoning and
building codes of the City, and are not of a prefabricated construction.
On motion of Commissioner Warner, seconded by Commissioner Brown and carried, an
Ad in the Sanford Herald for Armed Forces Day was approved in the amount of $152.88 and to
transfer from Account 8150, Contingency, to account 8134, Publicity-Miscellaneous.
Commissioner Joe Baker was appointed Acting Mayor June 1, during the absence of
the Mayor from the City.
Commissioner Brown next introduced Ordinance No. 675, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AMENDING
NUMBER 362 OF SAID CITY, AS AMENDED, SAID ORDINANCE BE-
ING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A ZONING PLAN vJITHIN THE
CITY OF SANFORD, SAID AMENDMENT TRANSFERRING CERTAIN
TERRITORY IN DISTRICT R-l TO DISTRICT R-2, IN SAID CITY.
vi and same was placed on its first reading and read in full.
Commissioner Warner then moved the waiver of the requirement of the second reading
of Ordinance No. 675, and that same be placed on final passage and adoption.
Thereupon the question recurred on the waiver of the second reading, the roll was
called and the vote stands as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NUMBER 362 OF SAID CITY, AS AMENDED, SAID OR-
DINANCE BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A ZONING PLAN
WITHIN THE CITY OF SANFORD, SAID AMENDMENT TRANSFERR-

After consideration, moved by Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner
Baker and car~ied, the Sanford Greyhound Baseball organization was authorized to make payment
for all municipal stadium admittance taxes collected through May 30, 1959, to be paid to the
City on June 1st., and thereafter said taxes collected through each week would be paid to the
City on the first day of the week following.

Request next submitted by the Mormon Church to use the air-conditioner in the City
Hall on Sunday mornings, and after consideration and on motion of Commissioner Higginbotham,
seconded by Commissioner Warner and carried, the request was denied.
On motion of Commissioner Warner, seconded by Commissioner Brown and carried,
minutes of regular meetings of March 23 and April 13, and Special Meetings of April 6 and 8
1959, approved.
Request next submitted by the Sanford Greyhounds Baseball organization for permit
to sell ,beer, for consimption on premises, at the Sanford Memorial Stadium, and on motion of

Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner Brown, and carried, same was approved on
the recommendation of the Police Captain, provided that it is to be served in paper cups only.
After consideration and on motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner
Baker and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to refrain from representing the Firemens
Relief & Pension Fund Trustees in any litigation.

On motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner Warner and carried,
the Commission authorized payment of Sanford Atlantic National Bank note dated December 1,
1958 and due June 1 1959 in the amount of $12,245.46, including interest, for R. C. A. Radio ~.

Equipment for the Fire and Police Departments.
Commissioner Brown next introduced Ordinance No. 676, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA ESTABLISH-
ING RATES FOR SEWER SERVICE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD FOR
CUSTOMERS BEYOND THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF SAID CITY, AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
