The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular annual session
at 'the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:'00 o'clock P. M. on January 5, 1960.

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
The City Attorney reported on meeting with"the Sgminole County Board of Public
Instruction pertaining to ~ransfer of title of property of the Go~ldsboro Recreation Area,
However, final agreement had not been obtained.
After discussion ~and on motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Comm.,
Brown and carried., the City Attorney was authorized to prepare an ordinance renaming orlando
Drive to Park Drive from 2~th Street south to its intersection with French Avenue.
The City Manager reported that the Seminole. County Commissioners had approved
furnishing material up to ~10,000.00 toward the proposed cooperative City-County widening of
Sanford Avenue from 13th S~reet to 25th Street, to connect with the county reconstruction
of Sanford Avenue south of ~25th Street.
The City Manager.next submitted the following tabulation of bids which were opened
publicly at 2:00 P. M. January 4, 1960, for furnishing 'the following supplies in accordance
with the invitation

After discussion and on recommendation of ~the City Manager, Commissioner Brown moved
the acceptance of the lowest bids, Seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried on the
Hughes Supply, Inc.

On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Warner and carried, minutes
of regular meeting of December 14, and Special Meeting of December 22, 1959, next approved.
Request next submitted by Atlas Advertisers, Inc., Lakeland, to place 25 wood and con-
crete benches on sidewalks for advertising, and after discussion and on motion of Commissioner
Baker, seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried, the request was denied.
There being no further business to be transacted by the outgoing Board, the meeting
adjourned sine die.
0n behalf of the City Commission, Mayor Wilson at this time presented Commissioner
Warner with a "silver tray" in recognition of his service to the City while serving on the
commission.
Commissioner Warner then expressed his thanks and appreciation to the members of the
Commission ,for their support and devotion to the progress of the City, and to the employees
of the City for their cooperation during his term as office as Mayor.
The Commission then reconvened for the purpose of organization, Commissioner J. H. Crapp
signing the oath and acceptance of office, and being seabed as Commissioner of the City of
Sanford, Florida, for a three year term.
On motion of Commissioner Higgi~botham, seconded by Commissioner Brown and carried,
Commissioner Wilson was next appointed temporary Chairman, pending the election of a Mayor.
The first order of business being the election of a Mayor for the ensueing year, Comm.,
Baker nominated C~mmissioner Higginbotham.
Commissioner Crapps moved that the nominations 'be closed. Seconded by Commissioner
Brown and carried.
Commissioner Brown moved to cast a unanimous ballot for Commissioner Higginbotham as
Mayor. Seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried.

the City of Sanford for the year 1960, and signed the oath and acceptance of office and took
the Chair,
Commissioner Wilson next spoke in appreciation of the cooperation received from the
Commission and employees during his term of !~office as Mayor.
Request next submitted to vacate and abandon the southerly 8 feet Of Fulton Street
abutting Lot 1, Block 1, Tie~ 4, Sanford, and on motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by
Commissioner Wilson and carried, a "PUblic Hearing" was authorized to be held on February 8
1960, to consider same.
On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried, payment
o~ ~2,500.00 was authorized to J. M. Fitzpatrick, C. P. A. for services in making the annual
audit~of the City's records for the year ended September 30, 1959.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
