050960-Regular SessionMINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida, May 9 at 8 P.. M. 19_6_~0 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall in.the City of Sauford, Florida at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on May 9, 1960. Present: Commissioner Earl Higginbotham, Mayor Robert S. Brown J.H. Crapps A.L. Wilson City Attorney Wm. C. Hutchison, Jr. City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr., Deputy Clerk Rosa Rotundo Police Chief R. G. Williams~ Absent: Commissioner Joe B. Baker The meeting .was called to order by the Chairman. A petition was next submitted from residents on Palmetto Avenue, Magnolia Avenue, Park Avenue, and Oak Avenue requesting present metal standard underground wired street lights to be repaired and not to be replaced by wood pole, overhead wired lighting. Commissioner Crapps moved the approval of said request on lights from Third to Fifths Streets on Palmetto, Magnolia and Oak Avenues, and from Third to Ninth. Streets on Park Avenue, and authorized the removal of the wood poles and lights. Seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried. Andrew Bracken, Principa~ of Seminole Hight School, and Coaches Ganas and Pigott.next appeared and requested the cancellat~oh of charges to the High School for the use of the stadium for foot bali. /in the amount of $300.00, and for base ball in the amount of $400.00. On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner,Crapps and carried, the $400.00 bill for baseball was authorized to be cancelled. Recommendation next submitted by Municipal Judge E. A. 011iff, Jr.,,and moved by Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried on the following: Suspension on Good Behavior of Balance of sentence of Robert Bufford Johns, Docket Case Numbers 62980-81, dated Kpril l, 1960. Also, balance 8f sehtence imposed upon Milton Re~l-in Docket Case Number 63037, dated April 8, 1960, was next suspended.~/'~? After considerable discussion and on motion of Commissione~ B~ .~ seconded by missioner Crapps and carried, streets were designated for "No Parking'" areas. (b) Thirteenth Street from Sauford Avenue to French Avenue Ninth Street, from Sanford Avenue to French Avenue, except that on Sunday, parking will be allowed on the north side of the street from Park Avenue to Elm Avenue. Com- On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried, minutes of regular meeting of April 25, and adjourned meeting of A~ril 28, 1960, next approved. On motion of Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Brown and carried, the Commission~approved transfers Of funds as follows: To:-. Recreation - Furniture and Fixtures, Acct. #4212 Parks - Repairs, Tennis Courts, Acct. #4165 $165.92 128.00 From: Swimming Pool - Repairs & Maintenance, Acct #4421 $ 293.92 The City Manager next submitted a report of vandalism in the Goldsboro Recreational area, in which 28 flood lights were destroyed by ~£fles, and after considerable discussion, Commissioner Crapps moved to replace said lights, and to notify the participants of the.rec- reational area that the lights would not be replaced if further distruction continued. M. 60 19.~ On motion of Commissioner Wilson,,seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried, current invoice and payrolls next approved, as evidenced by General Fund Sanford Atlantic National Bank Vouchers Nos. 7760 thru 7790, General Fund Florida State Bank Vouchers Nos. 3277 thru 3443, and Water and Sewer Revenue Fund Sanford Atlantic National Bank Vouchers No. 400. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
