092660-Regular Session MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida, September 26 at 8 P. M. 19.60 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on September 26, 1960. Present: Commissioner A. L. Wilson Acting Mayor " Joe'B Baker "' Robert S. Brown City Manager W. E. Knowles City Attorney Wm. C. Hutchison, Jr. City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr., Deputy Clerk Rosa Rotunto Chief of Police R. G. Williams Absent: Commissioner Earl Higginbotham, Mayor " J.H. Crapps The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Requests next submitted for transfers of permits to sell beer and wines as follows: (a) From:Willie R. Robinson d/b/a Mike's Place, 311 Sanford Avenue TO: Frank Thomas - for consumption on premises. (b) FROM: William and Inez Cook, ~/b/a Cook's Corner, 2617 Park Drive TO: R.C. Sprowl,.for consumption on oremises. (c) FROM: C. C. Flowers, 805 W Third St TO: Max A Bass, for consumption off premises. and on motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried, the aforesaid were approved, on recommendation of the Chief of Police. On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried, the Commission authorized the sale of a peddlers license for six months to W. B. Jessup, in the amount of $37.50, effective October 1, 1960. Recommendations next submitted by the Zoning & Planning Commission as follows: (a) Rezone from R-5 (Single-Family) to R-4 (Multiple-Family) District Lot 1, Block 9, Tier 15, Seminole Park . (b) Zone the East 150 ft of Lots 7 thru 13 inclusive and the East 150 feet of the North 80 feet of Lot 14, Amended Plat of Druid Park to R-lC (Single-Family) District. (c)Zone Lots I thru 3, and Lots 7 thru 9, Park View, C-N (Commercia- Neighborhood Shopping) District. (d) Zone Lots 4 thru 6, Park View, R-1 (Single-Family) District. Shipman, representative of Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, appeared and. requeste~ action by resolution supporting the proposed merger of the Atlantic Coast Zine Railroad and Seaboard Airline Railroad. After eonsideration, the City Attorney was authorized to prepare said Resolution. On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker, and carried, an ~xpenditure not to exceed $200.00 was authorized to purchase fencing to prevent hyacinths from covering Seminole Boulevard, due to the flooding of Lake Monroe. Request next submitted by 01df Norgreu, 109 S Mangoustine, to vacate the east-west alley in Graceline Court, and on motion of Commissioner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Brown, and carried, same was denied. Request next submitted for permit to solicit contributions by Muscular Dystrophy Ass'n of America, Inc., during the month of November, and on motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried, due to conflicting date of the United ~ppeA1 Drive, the Commission suggested that the Muscular Dystrophy Association ~oin with the United Appeal or select a non conflicting date. On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried, the City Manager was authorized to advertise for bids on the following: MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida, September 26 ab 8 P M 19. 6O (a) (c) (e) Police Cars Garbage Packer & Truck Chasis Adding Machines ½ Ton Pickup Lawn Mower The Commission authorized the payment of $10.00 from Commission Expense #8135 to reimburse the City Manager for payment to Flavin Dubois for hauling U-Drive-It trailer out of City Parking Lot at First Street and Commercial Avenue, after a complaint by Chamber of Commerce. On motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Baker and carried the meeting adjourned until 2:00 P. M. Thursday September 29, 1960. ATTEST: gm
