010961-Regular SessionMINUTES City Commission, Sanford,'Florida, January 9 at 8 P. M. 19.61 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 8:00 o'clock P. M. January 9, !961. Present: Commissioners Joe B, Baker, Mayor " J.H. Crapps " Earl Higginbotham " Thomas S. McDonald " A.L. Wilson City Attorne~ Wm. C. Hutchison, Jr., City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. Deputy Clerk Rosa M. Rotundo Police Chief R. G. Williams The meeting was called'to order by the Chairman. After consideration, the Commission authorized signs to be installed requesting all day parkers to use the north end of Municipal Public Parking Lot No. 1 and to leave the south end of the lot for down town shoppers. Commissioner Wilson next introduced Ordinance No. ?45, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 644 OF SAID CITY, SAID ORDINANCE PRO- VIDING FOR THE ABANDONMENT OF AN ALLEY IN GRACELINE COL~T BUT RESERVING THEREIN A PUBLIC UTILITIES EASE- MENT, SAID AMENDMENT ABANDONING A PORTION OF SAID PUBLIC UTILITIES EASEMENT RESERVATION. and same was placed on its first reading and read in full. After considerable discussion moved by Commissioner Higginbotham to exempt locally established and licensed businesses from additional licenses for solicitors operating from said places of business. Seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried. Z Recommendation next submitted by the onlng and Planning Commission as follows: Rezone all of Block 2 Palm Terrace and Lot lA Seminole }{eights from R-1 (Single-Family District) to C-1 (Commercial Retail) District. and on motion of Commi'Ssioner McDonal, seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried, a public hearing was authorized to be held on February 1~, 1961, to consider same. Commissioner Higginbotham moved to authorize the paving of Myrtle Avenue from Second Street to Third Street and to transfer ~1,000.00 from Contingency Accounty No. 8150 to Street Materials Account No.4725. Seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried. On motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried, current invoices and payrolls next approved, as evidenced by General Fund Florida State Bank Vouchers Nos. 4612 thru 4?66, and General Fund Sanford Atlantic National Bank Vouchers No. 8125 thru 8182, and Water and Sewer Revenue Fund Sanford Atlantic National Bank Vouchers Nos. 454 thru 461. There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
