City Commission, Sanford, Florida,
April 17 at 8 P. M.
The City Commission .of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special called session
at the City Hall in.the City of.Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. on April 17, 1961.

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
On motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner Wilson and unani-
mously carried, the Commission approved the waiver of the requirement of 24 hour written notice.
Further consideration was given to the qualifications of the 17 applications re-
ceived for the position of Director of Recreation and Parks for the City, and after having
personal interviews with 6 of the better qualified applicants, Commissioner Higginbotham
moVed that the interviews be closed, and on the approval of the appointment to said position
of James R. Jernigan, Rock Hill, South Carolina, at an annual salary of $5,712.00, effective'
upon his termination of employment with present employer. Commissioner Higginbotham further
stipulated that the Department would be operated without an Assistant Director of the Recreation
Seconded by Commissioner McDonald and carried.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
