081061 MINUTES " City Commission, Sanford, Florida, ~u~ust 10 at 8 P. Mo 196:1. The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford,, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P..M. ou August 10, 1961. Present: Commissioner Joe B. Baker, Mayor " J.H. Crapps " Earl Higginbotham " Thos. S. McDonald " A.L. Wilson City. Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. D'eputy Clerk Rosa Rotundo Absent: City Attorney Wm. C. Hutchisou, Jr. Police Chief R. G. Williams The meeting was called to order ~y the Chairman. County Commissioner James Avery appeared to outline the County's plans to participate in the distribution of Federal Surplus Foods to supplement the benefits now being made by the State and County to welfare families and requested the use of a portion of the City's Storage building at the Municipal Stadium. He further stated that this would be used for. storage of food commodities and for distribution of same to approximately 500 families. The Commission outlined that this building was now being used for storage by the City an~ the New York Giants and the request would have to be taken~under advisement. After discussion Commissioner tIigginbotham moved to authorize the purchase of the radio aerial at the present county jail iu the amount of $150.00. Seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried. Request next submitted by Jake Adams for the City to install at his expense, approxi-' mately 157 ft of 6-inch cast iron water main on his prOperty at Commercial and Holly Avenues to service his new bonded warehouse for a fire sprinkler system, and he was advised to contact local contractors to ascertain if they were able to perform the job. Consideration next given to the study of the proposed 1961-62 budget. The City Manager reported that the junior Chamber of Comme~ce had withdrawn their request to increase their appropriation from $2,100 to $2,500. The City Manager reported that the suggested replacement of 3 chairs for his office would cost an estimated $235.00 and same was taken under advisement. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned until 8:00 o'clock P. M. August 17, 1961. ATTEST: gm
