120661-Special SessionMINUTE, S City Commission, Sanford, FlOrida, De_aembeP 6 at The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in sPecial session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at'lO:O0 o'clock A.M. on December 6, 1961. Present: Commissioner Joe. B. Baker, Mayor " J.H. Crapps " Earl Higginbotham " Thomas S. McDonald " A.L. Wilson City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. Police Chief R. G. Williams Absent: City Attorney Wm. C. Hutchison, Jr. The meetingwas called to order by the Chairman. John Krider, manager of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce, next appeared in the interest of the Sanford-Seminole Development Corporation pertaining to the negotiations with Del Mar Cabinet CompanY to locate one of their manufacturing branches in the city. He further stated that this company would lease a building f0ri~5~ye~rs and within 2 years they would expect to have 200 employees and an output of over 2 million dollars. Mr. Krider pointed out that the Commission had authorized a 6-inch water line to be extended, which would supply sufficient water for~the oper~tion, however, that in order to obtain the lowest and best fire insurance rating, an~.addi~i6nalS-~nch line would also be necessary. Estimates were submitted by Wm. Bush setting forth the cost for materials only for the additional 8-inch line at approximately $22,700.00. Cliff McKibbin stated that with the City's purchasing contracts both the 6-inch and 8-inch lines could be installed for approximately On motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried, the City Manager was authorized to prepare cost estimates for the most feasible plan for supplying the water demand for the proposed construction. Letter next submitted by the Community Baseball Club of Central New York~ Inc., operators of the Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Club, inquiring aboUt the use of spring training facilities in the city. After discussion, Commissioner Crapps moved to withhold consideration of a lease for use of the Municipal Stadium for training purposes until a lessor would deposit $5,000.00 to cover the expense of conversion of the stadium field, or $1,000.00 for use of the practice fields. Seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried. Request next. submitted by B. Katz D/b/a Kays Department Store, ~01Sanford Avenue, for refund of City License No. 856, in amount of $~0.00 setting forth that the license had been in use only two months and claiming that the business closed on November 29, 1961, and after consideration and on motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner McDonald and carried, the request was denied. Petition next submitted from Woman's Bible Class of First Baptist Church request- ing the Commission to withhold proposed action to permit sale of alcoholic beverages from 10.~ P.M on Sunday, December ~l, 1961, and same was taken under advisement Consideration next given to the 1961 assessed valuation of ~7,8i0.00 and tax of $80.58 against property purchased by the First Methodist Church on February 2~, 1961, as follows: E.
