010862-Regular Session MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida, January 8 at 8:00 P, M. 19.62~ 235 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida,' met in regular session at the City Hall in' the City of Sanford, Florida, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. on January 8, 1962 Present: Commissioner J. H. Crapps, Mayor " Joe B. Baker " Earl'Higginbotham " Thomas S McDonald " A_ L. Wilson City Attorney Wm. C Hutchison. Jr. City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr Deputy Clerk Rosa M Rotundo Police Chief R. G Williams The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Clifford McKibbin, Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Commission, and several members of the Board appeared to discuss the proposed new zoning ordinance as recommended for adoption by this Commission, and on which a public hearing will be held on January 22, 1962. G. High and N L Bishop appeared to object to the proposed rezoning of West First Street. The City Manager next submitted the following tabulation of bids which were opened publicly at 2:00 P.M. January 4, 1962, for furnishing approximately 3,108 tons of hot asphaltic concrete in accordance with specifications in the invitation for bids. Per Ton Orlando Paving Co. Orlando, Florida $7-53 R. Lockhart, Florida 8.24 8 86 After discussion'and comparison of prices, COmmissioner Higginbotham moved on the acceptance of the low bid of Orlando Paving Company for furnishing hot asphaltic concrete at a price of $7.53 per ton for street repaving as scheduled, up to the appropriated amount of $26,500.00 Seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried. Request next submitted by L. E. Walker d/b/a Angel's Eat Shack for a beer and wine license, for consumption on premises, at 2503 S. Sanford Avenue, and on motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner McDonald and carried, same was approved on the recommendation of the Chief of Police. Commissioner McDonald next introduced Ordinance No 768, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA PROVIDING FOR CONDEMNATION AND DEMOLITION OF DELAPIDATED, UN- SANITARY AND UNSAFE BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES; PROVIDING FOR THE USE AND OCCUPANCY THEREOF; PRESCRIBING THE PROCEDURE TO CONDEMN SUCH BUILDINGS AND THE PROCEDURE FOR REMOVAL OR REPAIR OF THE SAME; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION. and on motion of Commissioner McDonald, seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried, same was placed on its first reading and read in full. Commissioner Higginbotham next introduced Ordinance No. 769, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN'FORD, FLORIDA AMENDING CHAPTER 14-13, ITEM 112 THEREOF, THE CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA 1954, AS AMENDED, SAID SECTION PROVIDING FOR SCHEDULE OF OCCU- PATION AND LICENSE TAXES FOR MINIATURE OR TOM THUMB GOLF COURSES, SAID AMEND- MENT CHANGING THE FEE THEREFOR. /236 MINUTES City Commission, San£ord, Floridfi, ~,~ January 8, at 8': O0-~E._j~.__lg~62 . On motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner McDonald and carried, minutes of special meeting of December 26, 1961, and regular annual meeting of January 2, 1962, next approved. After discussion and on motion of Commissioner Higginbo~ham, seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried, the City Manager was aUthorized to advertise for bids for furnishing a three quarter ton pickup truck for the City Repair'Shop. On motion of Commissioner Wilson, seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried, current invoices and payrolls next approved, as evidenced by Generai Fund Florida State Bank Vouchers Nos. 3179 thru 3236, General Fund Sanford Atlantic National Bank Vouchers Nos. 7123 thru 7299, Water and Sewer Revenue Fund Sanford Atlantic National Bank Vouchers Nos. 522 thru 532, and Water & Sewer Renewal and Replacement Fund Sanford Atlantic National Bank Vouchers Nos. 100 thru 103~.
