031762-Special Session MINUTES City Commission, San£ord, Florida, March [17 at &: 15 ?_~M__,_ The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, ~lorida, at 4:15 o'clock P.M. on March 17, 1962. Present: Commissioner J. H. Crapps, Mayor " Thomas ~ McDonald " A. ~. Wilson City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. ~ Police Chief R. G. Williams Absent: Commissioner J. B. Baker " Earl Higginbotham City Attorney W~. C. Hutchison, Jr. The meetin~ was called to order by the Chairman v~o announced that purpose of the meeting was to consider hiring an architect for the renovation of and addition to the old county jail for municipal jail purposes. Mayor Crapps reported that Architect J~ @. Chapman had proposed that he could save the City ~300.00 to ~00.00 in addition to his fee of ~3©©.00 to ~00.00, by renderin~ tech- nical advise for the proposed additio~ and renovation. After considerable discussion, Commissioner McDonald moved that in order not to delay the proposed renovation and addition and to keep construction time to a minimum, to appoint J. G. Chapman as Architect for said project, provided that his fees would not excee~ ~00o00 and that the entire cost of said project would not exceed ~12,000o00. Seconded by Com- missioner Wilson and carried. The City Manager next inquired as to the responsibilities of his office with re£eremce t~ the ~!,000.00 fund authorized to be trans£erred to the Industrial Park Board by the City Commission on February 26, 1962, and after discussion and on motion of Com- missioner McDonald, seconded by Commission.er Wilson and carrie~, the Commissio~ authorized that the City Manager would not be responsible for said sum.
