100162 MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida, October l, 1962 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 8 o'clock P.M. October l, 1962. Present: Commissioner J. H. Crapps, Mayor " Joe B. Baker " Earl Higginbotham " Thomas S. McDonald " A.L. Wilson City Attorney Wm. C. Hutchison, Jr. City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. Police Chief R. G. Williams The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. .... The Chairman announced that the first order of business would be a discussion with representatives from the S~minole County Commission pertaining to the installation of water mains and sewer mains and facilities to service the Hunt property on South Sanford Avenue, outside the City. The City Manager submitted a cost estimate of $44,292.57 for a 6" sewer forced main and $22,776.07 for a combined 10" and 8" water main~ making a total sum of $67,068.6~. General Hutchison, Chairman of the Seminole 0ounty Commission, and County Commissioner Fitzpatrick and County Commissioner Dunn offered the cooperation of the County Commission in the joint undertaking of the aforesaid project. After consideration and on motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Com- missioner Wilson and carried, the City Manager was next authorized to prepare bid speci- fications and to advertise for bids for materials for the aforesaid installation. On motion of Commissioner Higginbotham, seconded by Commissioner McDonald and carried, the Commission next approved the payment of $400.00 to the personnel in the office of the Registrar of Seminole County for the additional work involved in com- bining the City and County registration lists. Ordinance No. 785, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, CLOSING, VACATING AND ABANDONING THAT PORTION OF TAMARIND AVE- NUE LYING BETWEEN FIRST STREET ~ND SECOND STREET IN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA. placed on its first reading and read ih full at the regular meeting of August 28, 1962, was, on motion of Commissioner Baker and seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham, placed on its final passage and adoption. The roll was called and the vote was as follows: Commissioner Crapps Yea " Baker " " Higginbotham " " McDonald " " Wilson " Thereupon , the Chairman announced that the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, by unanimous vote had passed and adopted Ordinance No. 785, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, CLOSING, VACATING AND ABANDONING THAT PORTION OF TAMARIND AVE- NUE LYING BETWEEN FIRST STREET AND SECOND STREET.IN THE CITY 0F-SANFORD, FLORIDA. Commissioner Baker next introduced Resolution No. 965, and after being read in full, moved on its passage and adoption. Seconded by Commissioner McDonald and carried unanimously. Said Resolution No. 965 being in words and figures as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA IN ME~iORY OF CAROLA SANFORD DOW. WHEREAS, Carola Sanford Dow~ daughter of General Henr~ Shelton Sanford, deceased, founder of the City of Sanford, Florida, has recently passed away, and ~~ ~o ~o~ ~ ~ ~~alv ~h~w~ ~r ~t~r~t i~ a~d contributed MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida, October l, 1962 19-- ~ the Henry Shelton Sanford Memorial Library in Sanford, and the City Commission of the City of Sanford feels that the passing of Carola Sanford Dow will be felt by all the residents of the City of Sanford, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Sanford, Florida, that this re- solution commemorate Carola Sanford Dow and that the same be a token of the regret and sympathy of the City COmmission of the City of Sanford, Florida, at her passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City of Sanford, Florida and copy hereof transmitted to the family of Carola Sanford Dow.
