Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 1 PM and Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 1 PM have been suggested as continuation dates; however, the actual date and time of the continued meeting will be publicly announced before the conclusion of the meeting being continued. • • CITY COMMISSION MINUTES 2012 -307 JULY 2, 2012 SPECIAL WORK SESSION The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Work Session on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 1:00 PM, in the Railroad Depot Room, Second Floor, City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida. Present: Mayor Jeff Triplett Vice Mayor Patty Mahany Commissioner Mark M Commissioner Velma Williams (present at 1:27 PM) Commissioner Randy Jones City Manager Norton N. Bonaparte, Jr. City Clerk Janet Dougherty Deputy City Clerk Cynthia Porter Absent: City Attorney William L. Colbert 1) FY 2012/2013 Budget Discussion. (City Manager Bonaparte) City Manager Bonaparte presented the proposed budget and said that he is not asking for a tax increase and is not having drastic reductions in services. A zero based budget formulation was used and the budget is status quo. He anticipates that the economy of the City, County and State will not drastically improve over the next couple of years and he is building a budget that is sustainable. The proposed budget adds an Accreditation Manager position for the Police Department and funding a Public Information Officer position in the City Manager's Department, and some modest salary adjustments. Mr. Bonaparte said that the budget work session scheduled for tomorrow • is cancelled, however, there is a tentative budget work session scheduled for July 26; the • CITY COMMISSION MINUTES 2012 -308 JULY 2, 2012 SPECIAL WORK SESSION Commission can decide if it is needed. On August 28 there will be a public presentation of the budget at 5:30 in the City Commission Chambers. The July 9 regular meeting agenda will include setting the tentative millage rate and the first public hearing date for the budget as September 10; the second public hearing and adoption is scheduled for September 24, 2012.
