010664-Special Called Session MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, Florida, January 6 at l0:30 A. M. 19. 64._ The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special called session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 10:30 o'clock A. M. on January 6, 1964. Present:: Commissioner Thomas S. McDonald ', Mayor " Joe B. Baker "' J.H. Crapps " M.L. Raborn, Jr. ', . A.L. Wilson City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr. Absent: City Attorney Wm. C. Hutchison, Jr. Police Chief R. G. Williams Commissioner Wilson moved to waive the requirement of a 24 hour written notice and to call the meeting into special session. Seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried by the unanimous vote of the Commission. Senator M. N. Cleveland, Jr., Representative S. J. Davis, Jr., Francis Roumillat, John Krider and O. D. Stenstrom appeared to discuss the proposed University site at Lake Ada. After consideration, Commissioner Crapps introduced Resolution No, '986,.and after being read in full, moved on its passage and adoption. and carried by the unanimous vote of the Commission. words and figures as follows: Seconded by Commissioner Wilson Said Resolution No. 986 being in A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, SETTING FORTH COMMITMENTS OF THE CITY OF SANFORD IN SUPPORT OF THE PROPOSED UNIVERSITY SITE AT L~AKE ADA. WHEREAS, the State Board of Control proposes to locate a state university in East Central Florida, and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford is in full accord with the proposed location at the Lake Ada site and wishes to extend the co-operation of the City, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida: To provide free water to the university to commence at the election or option of the State Board of Control and to run continuously for a period of ten (10) years; e To provide police and fire protection to the proposed university site by means of a new fire station, new fire equipment, and additional fire personnel in com- pliance with the fire underwriters' standards; To provide now a new water treatment plant adjacent to the proposed university site; To provide a sewage treatment plant to serve the proposed university site and the surrounding area; To make available on a co-operative basis, the use of the City of Sanford's stadium and civic center. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, and copies thereof delivered to ~he State Board of Control.
