The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:0© o'clock Noon, November.~, 196~, for the purpose of canvassing the Election Returns of the Municipal General Election, held on November 3, 196~, and any other business to come before the Commission. Present: Commissioner A. L. Wilson, Mayor " Earl Higginbotham " Joe Baker " M.L. Raborn, Jr. " J.H. Crapps City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. L. Whelchel Deputy Clerk Rosa M. Rotundo Absent: Police Chief R. G. Williams City Attorney Wm. C. Hutchison, Jr. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. The Commission then proceeded to canvass the returns of the Municipal General Election, held on November 3, 196~, for the purpose of electing one City Commissioner for the term of three years, commencing on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January, 1965, said returns as made by the Clerks and Inspectors as follows: FOR CITY COMMISSIONER PRECINCT i _~ 15 19 20 21 22 Absentee Total Votes Votes Joe Baker E. Harper, Jr. 88 138 203 lqq 4 56 411 88 1132 66 138 209 110 4 qq 265 86 922 Commissioner Higginbotham then moved that the returns of the Clerks and Inspectors of the Municipal General Election, held on November 3, 196~, be accepted and the absentee ballots be approved as recorded. Seconded by Commissioner Crapps and carried. Thereupon, Joe Baker was certified as the duly elected City Commissioner of the City of Sanford, Florida, for the three year term, commencing with the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January, 1965. Commissioner Baker then moved that unless the registrar could assure the City of a position on the ballot in the next election, either with the contested candidates, or in a top position on the voting machine, the City Election be moved to the City Hall, and handled in the same manner as before the registrar took over.
