The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special adjourned
session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 5:00 o'clock P. M. on March
1965.

The Chairman announced that the meeting had been called to consider moving the
liquor license of the M & R Bar, located at 2603 Park Drive, to Jet Lanes, located at
Highway 17-92 and 0nora Road, upon annexation.
Commissioner Baker stated his objection to the change was that bowling is a family
type recreation, 'and having a bar at this location would be a bad influence on the younge~
generation by association.
Commissioner Wilson stated his objection to the change was expanding the area for
liquor sales, in general, was not to the benefit of the public.
After considerable discussion, Commissioner Higginbotham moved to permit a transfer
of the liquor license from the M & R Bar to the Jet Lanes, subject t:o the area being annexed
to the City, seconded by Commissioner Raborn and carried over the dissentin'g votes of
Commissioner Baker and Commissioner Wilson
Commissioner Higginbotham next introduced Resolution N0~ 1005, and after being
read in full, moved on its passage and adoption. Seconded by CoAmissioner Baker and carried
by the unanimous vote of the Commission. Said Resolution No. 1005 being in words and figures
as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
COMMENDING CHIEF JACK B. BECKHAM, OF THE
UNITED STATES NAVY, SANFORD NAVAL AIR STATION,
SAArFORD, FLORIDA, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE
INNAVY SHORE PATROL WORKAND COOPERATION WITH
LAW ENFORCF2KENT OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF SANF0~.
WHEREAS, Chief Jack B. Beckham of the United States Navy, presently stationed at
Che Sanford Naval Air Station, Sanford, Florida, and for the last two and a half years en-
gaged in Navy Shore Patrol operations in the City of Sanford, Florida, is about to be trans-
ferred from Sanford, Florida, and
WHEREAS, during said two and a half year period Chief Beckham in the opinion of law
~nforcement officials of the City of Sanford has rendered outstanding service in connection
,ith law enforcement work not only to the Navy but to the City of Sanford, and has exhibited
spirit of co-operation in his capacity with the Navy which has materially contributed to
he efficiency and harmony of City-Navy law enforcement,
NOW THEREFORE,'BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida,
~hat Chief Jack B. Beckham be and he is hereby commended for his outstanding service with
:he Navy Shore Patrol and his outstanding co-operation with law enforcement officials of the
lity of Sanford, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City
