Fls .... r · ' ' : The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in special session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at ll:O0 o'clock A. M. on June 8, 1965. Present: Commissioner M. L. Raborn, Jr., Acting Mayor " J.B. Baker " Earl Higginbotham " A.L. Wilson City Attorney Wm C. Hutchison, Jr. City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. L. Whelchel Deputy Clerk Rosa M. Rotundo Absent: Commissioner J. H. Crapps, Mayor Police Chief R. G. Williams The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Robert Crumley, acting as spokesman for the Industrial Park Board of the City of Sanford, presented to the Commission Walter Gielow, Managing Director of the Sanford Herald Newspaper, who appeared to discuss the purchase of land at the Industrial Park site for re? location of the newspaper office. Mr. Gielow informed the Commission that it was his intention to build a building of steel construction for shop area, press room and newsprint storage, and connect to this building a cement block building for office space. He further stated that he wished to purchase Lot l, with an option to buy Lot 2 at a future date. After discussion, Commissioner Baker moved to sell to the Sanford Herald, for a net to the City of Sanford of $5,000°00, Lot I of the Industrial Park, with an option for one year on Lot 2 for a net to said City of $10,000.00. This option to be renewable for one iyear only, at the end of the first year of the option. The date of the option on Lot 2 to start as of the date of the sale of Lot 1. The proceeds from the sale of Lot i to be used for capital improvements within the Industrial Park area, and the sale of lots be subject..to the bylaws of the Park for speculation. This entire offer to stand for ninety (90) days from this date. Seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried. Commissioner Baker then moved the City was not to consider the above offer of price as a precedent for any future sale of':lots in the Industrial Park, as the remaining lots will increase in value upon the sale of these lots. Seconded by Commissioner Higgin- botham and carried. Consideration next given to the American Legion ball teams using the baseball field at Pinehurst Park; and after discussion, Commissioner Higginbotham moved to permit the American Legion the use of the field £or the games scheduled this year, but give them a letter to the effect that the use of the field will not be permitted next year, as this is not a City function. Seconded by Commissioner Wilson and carried over the dissenting vote of Commissioner Baker. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. ATTEST: lm MAYOR
