The City Commission,::~of the City of Sanford, Florida, met im adjourned regular session at the City Hall in the City of Sa~ford, Florida, at 12:00 o'clock Noon, December 8, 1965, for the purpose of canvassing the Election Returns of the ltumicipal General Election, held on December 7, 1965. Present: Absent: Commissioner H. L. Raborn, Jr., Mayor " J.H. Orapps " Earl Higginbotham " A.L. Wilson City Attorney Wm. C. Hutohison, Jr. City Hanager W. E. ~nowles City Clerk H. L. Whelchel Commissioner J. B. Baker Police Chief A. S. Williams The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. The Commission then proceeded to canvass the returns of the Municipal General Election, held December 7, 1965, forthe purpose of electing two City Commissioners for the term of three years, commencing on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in Jamuary, 1966, said returns as made by the Clerks and Inspectors as follows: FOR CITY COMMISSIONER -- Group I Hachine ,Votes Absentee Total ..yotes Vo.~.es Henry G. Johnson Dr. W. Vincent Roberts George Touhy (Write-in Vote) 1,023 7 1,030 1 1 FOR CITY COMMISSIONER -- Group II H. L. Raborn, Jr. George Touhy (Write-in Vote) 955 12 967 i i Commissioner Grapps then moved that the returns of the Clerks and Inspectors of the Municipal General Election, held December 7, 1965, be accepted and the absentee ballots be approved as recorded. Seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried. Thereupon, Dr. W. Vincent Roberts, Group I, amd H. L. Raborn, Jr., Group II, were certified as the duly elected. City Commissioners of the City of Samford, Florida, for the three year term, commencing with the first ~aesday after the first Monday in January, 1966. After discussion, 0ommissioner Higginbotham moved that the Election Clerks and Inspectors working in the Municipal General Election on December 7, 1965, be paid at the hourly rate of $1.00 per hour for a total of fourteen hours.
