120468 MINUTES City Commission, Sanford, .Florida Dec.ember 4 at 12 Noon 19, 68 DOT~r~OW OFFICE ~uPPLY COMPANY The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Meeting at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 12:00 o'clock Noon, December 4, 1968, for the purpose of canvassing the Election Returns of the Municipal General Election, held on December 3, 1968, and any other business to come before the Commission. Present: Commissioner W. Vincent Roberts, Mayor " Earl Higginbotham " Lee P. Moore " M.L. Raborn, Jr. " A.L. Wilson City Attorney W. C. Hutchison, Jr. City Manager W. E. Knowles City Clerk H. L. Whelchel Absent: Police Chief Ben E. Butler The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Commissioner Moore moved to call the meeting into session to canvass the returns of the Municipal Election, held December 5, 1968, for the purpose of electing two City Commissioners for the term of three years, commencing on the first Tuesday after the first iMonday in January, 1969. Seconded by Commissioner Higginbotham and carried. Said returns made by the Clerks and Inspectors as 'follows: FOR CITYCOMMISSION - GROUP I James H. Crapps Gordon Meyer Mack N. Cleveland, Sr. FOR CITY COMMISSION -GROUP II W. Vincent Roberts Mack N. Cleveland, Sr. W. M. Philips TOTAL VOTING TABULATION MaChine Votes Absentee Votes Total Commissioner Higginbotham then moved that the returns of the Clerks and Inspectors of the Municipal General Election, held December 5, 1968, be accepted and'the absentee ballots be approved as recorded. Seconded by Commissioner Raborn and carried. Thereupon, James H. Crapps, Group I, and W. Vincent Roberts, Group II, were certi- fied as the duly elected City Commissioners of the City of Sanford, Florida, for the three year term commencing with the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January, 1969. Consideration was next given to the request of the Sanford Merchants Association for the City to install poles along First Street from Sanford Avenue to French Avenue to suspend seven decorative Christmas trees over the streets. After discussion, Commissioner Raborn moved to take the following action on said request: 1. Installation of additional support poles on First Street is denied. 2. The City to i~stall the respective Christmas tree decorations under the following conditions: (a) The Merchants Association will be responsible for contacting the merchants or property owners and obtaining their permission that said decorations may be anchored to the building.
