City Commission, Sanford, Florida

The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Workshop Session in
the City Manager's Conference Room, in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at
4:00 o'clock P. M. on February 4, 1985.
Present: Mayor-Commissioner Bettye D. Smith
Commissioner John Y. Mercer
Commissioner Milton E. Smith
Commissioner David T. Farr
Commissioner Bob Thomas
City Manager W. E. Knowles
City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr.
Absent: City Attorney William L. Colbert
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
The Mayor announced that the selection committee for a City Manager was present
as follows:
Ms. Sara Jacobson, Chairperson
Judge Joe Davis
Mrs. Shirley Shilke
Mr. Edwin O. Keith
Absent: Mrs. Lenora Mobley
Ms. Liza Pringle was present to represent Mrs. Mobley.
Ms. Jacobson reported on the progress of the committee, the methodology of
classification for selection, and estimated that they would have the list prepared by the
end of next week at the latest.
The Commission gave the committee a vote of confidence and commended them for
their progress, and further, if needed, the committee could feel free to submit a list
greater than the top ten applicants.
Cal Conklin, Paul Porter, Mike Deverall, and Chris Ferraro, appeared to represent
the firm of Conklin, Porter and Holmes, Engineers for the proposed improvements to the
Wastewater Treatment Plant, and submitted a report dated February 4, 1985, entitled "City of
Sanford Pollution Abatement Programs."
Don Knight, President of the Greater Sanford Development Corporation, appeared to
commend the City for the progress on the downtown improvements and to urge its completion,
and to announce a program to seek the cooperation of the property owners to renovate the
facades of their buildings.
The Commission designated items for consideration at the next regular meeting as
follows:
